I think it would be great to own a trans bar, but the bullshit Steve (the owner of Divas) has to put up with is unimaginable.

You don't even know the half!
Steve is a good dude who has to put up with a difficult clientele. In this particular instance, there's nothing the man can do but what he did. I was there.
I remember, as if it were yesterday, the old days of The Motherlode and The Black Rose. These were the bars from back in the day in San Francisco that came before Divas (late 80's to mid 90's). I understand that Divas was opened by the owner of The Motherlode and later sold. I went to Divas a couple times. Hated the vibe. Nothing like the old bars. The old bars had lunch time crowds, happy hour crowds, and the late night sex worker crowd. If you were a lunch time or happy hour patron you actually stood a good chance of meeting a nice girl. And not all the girls were sex workers / escorts. For many in the TG/TS community -- and their admirers -- it was our Cheers. They were not dark hiding places but places where you went to meet your friends. The problem, as I see it, is the current owner is straight (or identifies as such). Truth is these places always operate best when owned by those who identify as members of the community it serves.
Well the club def has history... I use to dance here with a few known girls back in the day...
I remember meeting Eva Lin in that club, and Monique Dior...
It really has potential, it just needs better biz strategy...
Money was good back on 2005-2009, after it just wasn't the same.
I really miss San Francisco!
I think a couple months ago, someone got their eye permanently poked out by a girl's shoe.
Why do TS's always go for their shoes? lol
There were so many changes right around that time, most of them having to do with the real estate and dot-com bubbles bursting at the same time. Steve brought me on in 2008, and we've been working on reaching out to a wider audience and re-vamping our public profile. I would love to hear your suggestions though. PM me if you'd like to contribute!
Actually, Steve has been married to a t-girl for well-over a decade. I would say that makes him a member of the community.
Divas has different nights for different needs. If you're looking for quiet nights with a "good girl", Sunday Karaoke is a fun and mellow night for intimate conversation. If you're looking for "bad girls", that would be Wednesday and Thursday Nights with The Divas Darlings. The weekends are dance-club and midnight shows.
The schedule has been the same for years. Steve wants to serve the entire community, and he does so my making just about each night a little different. You can't go on a Monday or Tuesday expecting a Wednesday or Thursday kinda vibe.
