Good diet high in fibre; don't smoke; don't frequent smoky places; drink only in moderation; take regular steady-state exercise; get regular checkups, particularly for colonic cancer; give as much as you can to cancer research charities, because the more we can find out about it the better we can fight it.
(If where you live has tax breaks for charity donations, make sure that you follow the necessary rules-- in the UK for example each pound you give to charity, if done under the rules, is worth one pound .25 to the charity as they can claim the tax back direct from the Gov.)
Having said that my mother, non-smoker, fit, healthy, active, good diet, lived in the country-- died of cancer. You just have to do the best you can.
