... in the Rugby World Cup, 39-16.

For those that haven't heard of it, rugby is the original oval ball game. The one where players don't wear plastic padding or helmets and aren't pumped full of steroids ... ;)

(England were beaten by Wales yesterday, but I probably shouldn't mention that ... :D))

Too late, well I sort of hinted at it... ;)

We are humbled by our defeat:). Thank you for bringing it to our attention because I don't think we'd have heard about it otherwise;.

Is the USA's Rugby team any decent? If not then this is merely an expected win ;)

Decent first half USA. Some outstanding hits. Figure Scotland had a full and frank de-brief at half-time.

Looking forward to The Boks.

Ireland looking very comfortable against Romania at the moment. Great tournament.

Are you trying to say that you're not here for the balls (oval or otherwise)?...

Team USA needs to regroup. We need to get all of our athletes who aren't interested in fame, fortune, or esteem and make sure they're ready for next year's Rugby competition. Good luck in the next round!

And there I said we were humbled by defeat. We're starting to sound like poor losers. Who do you guys play next?

South Africa. I was in Murrayfield in 2002 when we beat the Springboks. Doesn't happen often but we live in hope for a repeat of that result.

In all seriousness, best of luck.

Cheers, and (whisper it) USA made a real game of it and were leading at half time. A combination of USA fading badly and Scotland organising themselves properly in the second half made the final score a shade more flattering than we may have deserved.

rugby is not a very popular sport in the US, hence it is not lucrative, therefore I don't expect our team to ever be that good. Scotland has so very little to be proud of, therefore let them have their moment.

Don't be a twat ... ;)

Alexander Fleming, Adam Smith, James Watt, Alexander Graham Bell to name only a few. Scotland, a country with a population 1.5% of the US has punched above its weight for centuries.

I posted the rugby result just to get a rise out of the Yanks on here (which it seems I did ... :D) as the US seems only to really excel at team sports that few other countries play, eg baseball.
