Problematic at the least. I'm not sure how this makes the producers any different from people making jokes about Kaitlyn Jenner on social media which many seem to have a problem with. If you don't have a problem with that, then I'm sure banking on the publicity is the only reason for making this 'parody' but for those concerned about portraying a real transgender woman as a parody/comedy/punchline, then I think they're going to have problem with this.

I'm not sure how my discussions with Chelsea relate to this - or how 'shemale/tranny' are related. You don't bring personal morals into the porn you make - I don't believe that, Wendy! I certainly don't believe I've produced something outside my own personal moral boundaries?

I haven't seen the DVD so I don't really have a comment on it on the content, but you've got to admit using the word 'parody' in terms with Kaitlyn Jenner does come across as 'making fun' - surely that's the point of a parody, to poke fun at a real or fictional character?

Personally, I don't really give a shit either way - but it would be remiss not you point out the issues of it when pointed out - and I'm sure you were well prepared to answer them. We've released/produced stuff or marketed topical items and Kaitlyn Jenner has capitalized on the media, and it's not like she was an unwilling public figure, but I do think it will upset quite a few people. This is going to be interesting. The porn community over the years have shameless parody both fictional and non-fictional people over the years. No matter how horrible the circumstances over the events. So here in lies my question, since she is a transgender person does it mean she can not be made fun or can she be made of fun of in a parody?

I personally don't take porn seriously nor expect it to be in any form politically correct. I will reserve my judgment till I watch the product. I have seen so many times people getting angry that have never seen the product. Still it's something to think about.

I SAID I'd reply after I read other replies...and some of you already know where I stand. I even asked Steven if I should post this or not (it's his board), so I already knew how he would feel.

Porn parodies are making lots of money. Hell, I look forward to seeing parodies of my favorite TV shows and movies. The difference is they're parodies of fictional characters. Caitlyn Jenner is a real person (and no, I don't care what anyone thinks about the Kardashian/Jenner clan).

Trans folks are already ridiculed in real life; just go check out some of the threads on Caitlyn and of the Mia Isabella/Tyga drama. Now, obviously I haven't seen the parody, so I can't comment on the content of it. Considering who's in the movie, I'm sure there are some scolding hot scenes in it. But ridiculing someone's transition - whoever they are - is something that rubs me the wrong way. We already get that from the so-called "mainstream"; why have it from within?

Of course folks will watch the movie because it may be fulfilling a fantasy for them; that's how it is with all porn (and non-porn in some cases). I might view it out of curiosity. But the possibility that the community is making fun of someone else transitioning turns me off.

I said this in another thread, but porn parodies are generally pretty awful. As a someone who watches porn, I'm not seeing Caitlyn Jenner, I'm seeing Jonelle Brooks. Usually the "story" is incredibly weak, and barely meets any definition of "parody." I love that someone thought "Hey, let's make the Avengers fuck." Because over 40+ years, that was never in any story in the comics. I value intellectual property. I have some which if "porn-parodied" would definitely diminish their value. To me, it is the same thing as posting links to my IP when it's stolen. But I also get the argument for parody, and think it's valuable. I've just yet to see a porn-parody that ever meets that description. But my work is fictional, it's not harming a person, it might affect commercial value, which is different.

There is a difference between putting yourself out in the world for publicity, and being drawn out unwillingly. Every time you see a Kardashians skit on SNL, fine, that's actual parody, almost to the definition, but it's also fair game because they willingly put themselves on a craptastic tv show. I don't really think that is fair to compare though with Caitlyn Jenner going through a transition. Ok, yes, she's been public about it, but before she made any announcements or any public proclamations, she disappeared. It was third party outlets, the scum like TMZ, and Perez Hilton that were posting photos, spreading gossip about her. Hell, it was on here in a thread over a year before she finally said something publicly. I think if she could have disappeared from the spotlight and transitioned, she would have. And to me that's really the big difference here. I know some ladies on here who had some seriously hard times in their transitions, would anyone really want that pain made fun of? (I say that having not seen the movie, so I can't say if that's part of the subject matter being "parodied") I can't imagine that would be something anyone would really enjoy, even if they got someone as hot as Jonelle Brooks to play them, and even make them look good in doing so. Plus, what is being "parodied?" "Parody - an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect."

Fictional characters, fine, I get it. I even get it when it comes to people who willingly throw themselves into the public spotlight. Sarah Palin, that one seemed a little harsh, but I even get that based on some of the political stances she took. But I can't imagine there were media outlets publishing stories about your personal life that kind of forced your into that direction. Maybe when I know more about the "story" or have heard more from people who have seen it to know what is approached and how, maybe then my feelings will change. But the ethics of this is up there with making a Christy Mack / War Machine porn-parody, pretty much non-existent.

I'll admit I'm judging the movie on the cover, stills and such...and I SAID I haven't seen it, so I can't judge the content. And yes, I know of the parody of Sarah Palin; I've got an autographed copy from Lisa Ann. I know of the multiple parodies of Kim's Paper cover, especially the one with Nikki Benz. However, with what folks going through their respective transitions have shared with me, the movie APPEARS to offend.

I was offered the role of "Kaitlyn Gender" as Christian stated I was in no way going to play a 65 year old woman. I was a bit insulted by even being asked. The age was an issue for me. But I also felt that the concept of the film was not something I wanted to be a part of. I understand that Caitlyn has a reality show documenting her transposition. But, as she has stated "she wanted to tell her story in her own words" I think a transition is a personal matter and that should be respected.

I had to use google to know what you were talking about, as I don't own a TV. The car crash thing seems like pure gossip that any celeb could go through.
As for Lauren Hill, the dumb thing about the "ESPY courage award" is that there a so many people do good brave things that it is kind of ridiculous to give it to only one person. Awards like that turn doing the right thing into a rat race with winners and losers. That being said fox news is attacking her the way they would not attack someone else who one that award for different reasons.

The ESPYs are not important. They are not a Presidential Medal or Nobel Prize. An ESPY is an award given based on popularity of the moment. none the less...it is not an award that carries with it much social, economical or political worth.

Scott won the Jimmy V award which fits...perseverance.

Jenner won the Arthur Ashe Courage award...which to me, is just a popular choice. Michael Sam is arguably a more deserving recipient in 2014. He risked getting blackballed in the NFL to come out. There may have been a better choice than Sam too in 14, but comparing 14 and 15, Sam deserved the award more in 14 than Jenner did in 15. Caitlyn, while transitioning is clearly not easy at all, has money and fame on her side already which has made her road far FAR easier than the average transwoman.
