Hey Guys
This is John Ed the Founder of T Girl Events who promotes and produces the popular "Tranny Strip" Party's in NYC. I wanted to hear from our fans and customers and followers what your thoughts were on us using the name "TRANNY" in the name of our party "Tranny Strip". We haven't had to many complaints but the word TRANNY is banned from media outlets in the mainstream. Also some girls have told me they got blocked on facebook for using the word TRANNY. I have said the word TRANNY a million times on facebook and have never had problems. The older generation is pretty cool with the word tranny it seems the new generation somewhat doesn't like it. We all know that Steven changed the name of the "Tranny Awards" to the Transgender Erotica Awards. Tranny Strip started the first after party for the Tranny Awards and produced the after party a couple years ago. Everything was all cool with our names back then.

If we were to change the name what would we call our self??? "Trans Strip" - "T Girl Strip" - "Shemale Strip". The name TRANNY STRIP just rolls off of your tongue so well compared to the rest of these names. Lord knows if we do change the name it would be quite a process cause our name and events is forever listed in google searchs. Plus changing all social media and websites and email address and on and on and on. Is it worth the hassle?? Is it really that bad??? If we do change the name I wanted to try and make the change over next month in June in honor of LBGT NYC Pride Month. We would really love your feedback and thoughts.

I came up with the name of the party TRANNY STRIP cause we were pretty much the first ever transexual stripper party in NYC. I thought it was a very catchy name and made sense at the time. I asked everyone what they thought of the name before I released it to the public the very first party and everyone LOVED IT!! If we do any mainstream press I use the name of our head company "T Girl Events".

Just to update you on what we are currently doing right now.....I took a break from doing our TS partys for about 8 months cause I was offered a big position as the entertainment director for Space Nightclub NYC. Well long story short that place opened and pretty much went bankrupt so I left Space. I was kinda in limbo cause I had my very successful Tranny Strip Party's at the bar Evolve in NYC and I up and quit the place cause of poor management and ownership of the establishment. My girls begged me to bring back the partys and I said ONLY if its bigger and grander and I find the perfect venue. Well the hunt went on and I am happy to say we do MONTHLY Tranny Strip Party's at a REAL NYC STRIP CLUB and the place couldn't be better and the party's couldn't be better. I am still tweeking things on our monthly Sunday partys and waiting for them to make a deal with me to offer me a better night then a Sunday.....which could happen any day now. So if your in NYC come by and say hello to us and say hello to me. This Sunday May 17th is our next monthly party with Porn Stars TS Foxxy and Madison Montag at Headquarters Gentlemans Club 552 West 38th Street 8pm till 4am and its FREE ADMISSION go to our website for info on getting FREE ADMISSION www.TrannyStrip.com

On a final note another reason to decide of changing the name TRANNY STRIP is because this summer July or August we are trying to go to other cities to do one time party's and spread the love. So you never know....we might come to a city near you!! But who knows what the name will be called....LOLLL.

Thanks for everyones time and giving us your feedback and thoughts!! XXXX

Man, I hate to hear someone say "t girl."

I have nothing constructive to add, though. Good luck!

It depends on a number of things;
How tightly you feel your brand is recognizable as "Tranny Strip"?
How much the girls performing/working there - and the patrons, care about the name and if it effects them?
If changing the name will impact your business negatively (or the question could be asked if keeping the name impacts your business negatively)?
If you care about catering towards what the mainstream or political correctness think of it.

We changed the "Tranny Awards" to the Transgender Erotica Awards because it made sense for us to do so. We weren't totally sold on the "Tranny Awards" name, we wanted to have a wider appeal to sponsors who may have had negatively impacted business by being associated with "tranny" and we wanted to appeal to a wider range of transgender models. We're experiencing some of the same complaints about using the word "shemale" on our websites but I feel "tranny" is probably more of a trigger word. It's not an exclusive porn word, like "shemale" is and is broader ranging in how it can be used.

Frankly, I'd change it and keep the "previously known as "Tranny Strip" tagline attached for a year. I like the word "Tgirl" which is why, although we didn't coin it, we've probably been the most instrumental in pushing it's usage over the past 19 yrs. You could also use some form of "trans, T", etc.

I agree with GroobySteven, for at least a year keep the "previously known as Tranny Strip" on your advertisements.
If the word tranny is getting banned from social media sites, you have to adapt..
How about "TS STRIP"..

I agree with some points that GroobySteven made someone that knows me and knows Tranny Strip. I see that not that many people responded to my post here so maybe its really not such a big issue as I had maybe inquired about. The name Tranny Strip is very very recognizable and pretty popular in the TS Community. None of my dancers or Porn Stars have had issues. My one host Dina Delicious was kinda fighting for me to change the name cause she works in main stream media on Sirus Satellite radio weekly. We have thousands and thousands of followers on our social media pages so if I don't see a big necessity to change it I don't think I will. Tranny Strip has been around for over 4 years and the name has always been an eye catcher and name catcher. The whole "Tranny" name issue came to play pretty much when Ru Paul got heat for using the name on RuPauls Drag Race but no one was really talking about it before or really had issues with it.

As you will see below I called our LBGT NYC Pride Party "TRANS PRIDE" that we are doing Sunday June 28th. When I write a description about our events I never call one of our girls a "Tranny" or refer to them as a Tranny. I always use the word "TGirl" "Trans" or "TS".

As of for now I think we will leave the name the way it is since we have had very few issues. I just wanted to get as much feedback as possible from the Trans Community but it seems it was NO heated debate here on Hung Angels. I want to thank those that did respond and I will remember the things you pointed out to me. Thanks!!

Since you asked I think people who are out looking for "T" action would easily guess what a party called "T Strip" or "tStrip" is all about. Nice and compact, still rolls off the tongue, and you also get a nice branding halo effect in that it resembles the Apple "iProduct" construction. Wish I were able to attend more often, you're nailing some premium headline hostess talent recently.
