probably a combination of alcohol/marijuana use...and the sensitivity level of a fourteen year old girl...:D

...I buy into every bit of drama and eat up the personal background stories. I'm cynical enough to realize the play on my emotions, but I honestly don't give a fuck...I love this stuff.
Sure, I realize there's drug use and the advantage of wealth (some of these sports take a lot of money to be proficient in )...and I have to admit that over all I prefer the Summer Olympics to Winter...but...
It's still incredible what some of these young people accomplish...and what they sometimes have to give up to do it......and even the risks some young athletes take just to represent themselves and their families and countries...
...and who doesn't wish they could do it...or be there?

I don't really have a favorite...but I have moments...lots of them.

Indeed. There are a fair amount of olympians who have been involved in professional wrestling. The most famous being the Sheik, Kurt Angle, Mark Henry, and Ken Patera, and probably a lot of others I'm missing. Out of them all, the Shiek does have the best catch phrase :)

Lolo Jones is easiest on the eyes to me, although you know she isn't going to win on the field, and neither are you.

As for actual athletes, as a former swimmer I go with Dara Torres (5 different Olympics made) or Natalie Coughlin (12 medals and hot to boot).

I'm impressed with Michael Phelps, but he had so many nutritionists, trainers, and financial support on top of his natural talent, that I wonder if any other athlete got the kind of backing he did, if they would have been as good.

With the Winter Olympics in Sochi imminent, I'll put in a mention for Chemmy Allcott, the UK's most consistently successful alpine skier, if not in the Olympics, then in World Championships etc.

These games are likely to offer her last chance at an Olympic medal - she's 31 - so I'll be keeping my fingers firmly crossed for her.

So many favorites in the Olympics over the years it is hard to pick just one, here are a few whose performances I enjoyed.

On the Winter side it is hard to argue with the Miracle on Ice team but I really had fun watching Alberto "la Bomba" Tomba in his Olympic apearances. It was funny when he said his Olympics would be complete if only he could meet East German figure skater Katarina Witt (who was also fun to watch).
