HO CHI MINH CITY (Reuters) - A court in Vietnam on Thursday turned down an appeal by former British rock star Gary Glitter against child molestation charges and ordered him to serve a three-year jail sentence and deportation.

An appeals court judge in the People's Supreme Court of communist-run Vietnam announced the decision in Ho Chi Minh City after a one-day hearing that was closed to the public and the media.

Under Vietnam law, Glitter, 62, may petition the president of the Supreme Court to review the charges and sentence again, a court official said.

Glitter, who rose to fame in the 1970s with hit songs and a bouffant hairstyle, was calm throughout the 40-minute reading of the decision, but shouted his displeasure after the court was dismissed.

"No justice here in Vietnam," Glitter screamed as he was escorted to a green van ...

Yes, return him to the UK after he's served his sentence in Vietnam for imprisonment in a UK prison - if that's what the Vietnamese authorities want or keep in in prison there.
If you want to be considered as having a higher intelligence, read what you type before sending it and correct it, although I doubt it would help.

They're out on license, honey. One false move and they're right back in again. This is not the place to go into detail but 1. most murders in the UK are done in a moment of unusual rage or stress and the murderer genuinely regrets what they've done 2 most murders are within families or the people involved know each other well 3 alcohol is a significant factor in these cases.

People who fall into these categories are very low-risk for re-offending, and the view taken by the law is once they have repented and accepted their guilt, and served the punitive "tariff", they're better out in society behaving themselves than being locked up indefinitely at taxpayers' expense. Just the way it is.

murderers shouldnt come out at all, you can't really tell if they're gonna do it again, and you can easily buy a knife, and down another goes... they have been given a LIFE sentence to last only 8 years? its not right. to take someones life isn't right at all... they have destroyed not 1 persons life, but friends and family around the person. they should at least have the full term, then there is plenty of time to think about it, and by the time they're out, to be older and wiser to realise that it was the stupidest thing in the world

i agree with the good behaviour thing, but it should only be for people who havent murdered, raped or anything like that. a paedophile got 28 years in america, no way of cutting the sentence shorter, which is what should happen here too, and maybe put castration on the list too
