Noooooooooooo .... Peter O'Toole just died (father of Plenty). If anyone wants a really cracking read this Xmas, get "Hellraisers: The Life and Inebriated Times of Burton, Harris, O'Toole and Reed". RIP.

Guess a Xmas Day rewatch of Lawrence of Arabia is in order.

As an American, I'll really miss him. Must be some Happy Hour somewhere beyond the grave. Oliver Reed and Robert Mitchum await too. RIP Peter O'Toole.

Old enough to have seen Lawrence of Arabia when it was first released -oddly, though I have now seen it so many times, I didn't buy the DVD until yesterday! I also recommend his two-volume autobiography Loitering with Intent; when I was a cleaner at the Odeon cinema in Haymarket in London I think I saw The Lion in Winter 10 times...the film he made with Audrey Hepbun in 1966, How to Steal a Million is still effervescent and delightful to watch...

Serious bummer. Lawrence of Arabia and The Lion in Winter are two of my favorite movies.

O'Toole as the deeply psychotic general.
one of his greatest performances

Truly one of the greats, equally adept at drama and comedy. My favorite of his films is probably Lion in Winter, but there were so many.

Baby boomers are dying off

Maybe true, bat1, but O'Toole was about 14 years too old to be a baby boomer, born as he was in 1932 (part of what is sometimes called the silent generation).

Liked the movie Creator.
Ya know, it's one of those bad movies that one, well, occasionally likes... :)
