Angela,
I’m not sure just how many museums you are planning on visiting, but, if you are coming to this city as a tourist, I would highly recommend the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met). Specifically, I would recommend taking time to see the following permanent collections:
A) The Asian Art Collection;
B) The Greek and Roman Art Collection;
C) The European Sculpture Collection.
The city has a lot of great museums (MOMA, Frick Collection, etc), but the Met is the absolute best.
So far as the theatre is concerned, I would recommend seeing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Imperial Theatre. I’ve seen it more than once, and it is extremely entertaining.
