View Full Version : NFL Football returns!

Yup...nineteen years without football. Many folks out here are numb to that fact. Many folks out here are also smart enough NOT to pay for a stadium billionaire owners could build and pay for themselves. So I'll just kick it in front of the flat screen or head to the sports bar to get my NFL on.
I adopted the Chargers as my team. Gotta keep it real; they'll finish third in the division and won't make the playoffs. Other than the hopefully future Los Angeles Rams, I really don't care who finishes where.
Basketball season is going to be interesting...

Speaking of the Rams tough start so far. Atlanta, Dallas, and San Fran not an easy way to start, but I expected better. They didn't even show up in Dallas. When the season started I figured if the could get to the first quarter of the season 2-2 I'd take it. They have a chance with a hobbled but dangerous 49er team coming Thursday.

Cam is really maturing straight ballin' right now. The schedule gets tougher for the Panthers now so we will see if it's real. For my Rams, the party is over. Once you loose your QB you are:dead-1:

Hey I've been there man. One reason I'm so far over the moon about the panthers this season is because of the state of the team that it was in at the beginning of the season. We just fired our general manager because he had shit the bed during the draft and rewarded mediocre players with generous contracts for several consecutive seasons. The owner said that there was a "culture of losing" within the organization and it was time for a change. Andrew Luck decided to stay in college rather than play for the panthers. That's how bad it was. The annual Deadspin article at the beginning of the season of why we sucked was painfully funny.
http://deadspin.com/why-your-team-sucks-2013-carolina-panthers-987865072
When we lost to Buffalo all of the fans were hollering for the new GM to clean house from top to bottom. The fans from opposing teams would take over during home games week after week. Then the win streak happened.
The Ravens are a great team. They'll be back eventually.

What are the Rams chances against the Seahawks?
There's a slim chance that the panthers get the #1 seed in the playoffs.
If:
Panthers beat the Falcons
49ers beat the Cards
Rams beat the Seahawks
It's a long shot for all of that to happen but I'd sure be happy if it did.

If they have to throw it 30-40 times they can't win. Seattle will be focused and ready, I hope the Rams are up to the challenge.

According to the Post[via confidential source], Jay had the inside track to the job once Snyder found out Jon wasn't budging...(Determined to" have a Gruden"...)
The other interviewees? A mere formality...He does give a good media interview, though...Isn't fazed or intimidated by the local press(which is a PLUS in this town...)

I'm just happy my Chargers are still in it...for now.

yea, I took the Chargers plus the 9. As wells as:
Seahawks minus 8
OVER 51 Pats-Colts
duplicating my selections could be damaging to your financial well being

Percy Havin is back, which brings all kinds of A++ to the Seahawks offense...It means multiple defenders covering him which means Lynch can go Beast Mode...Then there's that Stadium...As for Carolina, Newton & crew have come a long way but I don't see them getting past Kapernick[sp?] & Co--They BEAT THE PACKERS WITH AARON RODGERS @ LAMBEAU... These Niners have a point to prove....it sucks to be remember as THE NINERS WHO LOST...
NFC Championship will be SF vs Seattle for all the marbles/bragging rights
AFC Championship(meh) when the smoke clears it'll be Peyton vs Brady: THE FINAL CHAPTER...I don't think Rivers & SD can pull a 3 in a row not in Denver-against a Manning[THE Manning]-on a playoff run...
but I don't have a dog in either fight(unless you count that I HATE Seattle for what they did to us @ FedEx last year--I was there sitting on the Seattle side:mad:)

here's a little bit of info....
When Tom Brady started his high school senior year his dad stressed over weather he'd get a college athletic scholarship. He spent hours on the phone begging coaches to view film of his son's running and passing.
In the NFL draft following Brady's career at Michigan, over 100 players were selected before him.
Go figure

I liked how the Saints stayed scrappy all the way until the end. Gotta respect that.

I HATE both teams in the NFC. That's why I was hoping for a Panthers win, but with that said these are the 2 best teams in Football. Both have great defense that travel. I like the 49ers to win a close game. Right now I like Kap better then Wilson, plus besides Lynch, and Wilson who scares you? If Harvin plays it's a plus but he hasn't finished a game yet.If the 49ers don't turn it over they win.

Pressure is on Peyton today. Will he make that big mistake? or will he have a great game? Should be very interesting in Denver.

Peyton was great, and the Broncos move.on. I said when I picked the 49ers if they don't turn it over they win. Well 3 to's in the 4th quarter sealed their doom. Should be a great Super Bowl, I lke Seattle by a TD.

Nice post. Should be a good one. Manning vs Seattles pass defense should be fun to watch. I thought he was going to choke in the playoffs but not yet.
I hope the Broncos get the win since John Fox is one of my favourite coaches from his time in Carolina. He just had an operation on his heart and maybe he won't be in the game much longer.

Sherman looked to be hitting the sherm by the look of the post-game interview.

The Seahawks eat humble pie? Long list of other teams should be ahead in that queue, starting with the Patriots. Lovely part of the world, too.

Oops...Yeah, I really thought the 49ers would win. If Sherman doesn't make that play looked like a Touch to me. Thought NE would win because of the past success. Hell I ain't surprised I'm usually wrong when it comes to picking games.

Super Sunday! Don't know about this game. D usually wins Championships but the way the league is so slanted towards offense maybe that's not true anymore. It's the reason I'm picking Denver. Seattle has a great, defense if they can get to Peyton with just four I think they can win. If Peyton stays clean Denver's gonna win this game. I like the Broncos 28-24 in a really good game.X factor, Russell Wilson and his legs can he extend plays and make big 3rd down conversions. Keep Peyton on the sidelines. Have fun peeps!
