In my opinion, Gatti / Ward, was the greatest boxing rivalry ever in the sport. Three separate times these two warriors battled eachother. And without a doubt, this round, was the greatest round ever fought in the history of boxing !!!

I loved Gatti & Ward...Two of the toughest fighters to ever get in the ring.

Have you seen Castillo vs. Corrales first fight? Their final rounds were great. Not as good as Gatti vs. Ward though.

Off the top of my head , in no particular order:
Any round in the short Hagler-Hearns fight;
The last round of Ali-Foreman;
The last round of Tyson-Douglas;
And I watched a great performance from a middleweight about 2 weeks ago ( whose name escapes me)....it was partof a triple header on Showtime. He destroyed a top opponent in the 1st round.

Tyson-Douglas
Yeah that was pretty awesome to see Buster KO Tyson. There is a good documentary about it that I watched on TV.

This! Maybe not the most polished boxing, but two guys who legitimately wanted to knock six bells out of each other XD

They were two great boxers at least.

Ward and Gatti were two very tough guys but Ward was never world class and Gatti was not once he moved above 130.

The first round of Hagler Hearns was epic. Hagler took some massive shots from Hearns and I think went back to his corner with blood coming from his forehead.

Several rounds of Barrera MoralesI have to qualify. For a fight between two legends it was some of the most sustained, brutal action I've seen. I think the fifth round of the first fight was the best one, but it's hard to remember. I have that fight on cassette.

I'll also say Marciano WalcottI round 13 because of the dramatic finish and its significance in light of Marciano's undefeated record in a fight he was losing.

Someone tell me how Marvin Hagler took those right hands. Granted Hearns started as a welterweight, but anyone who saw his knockouts of Cuevas and Duran knows how hard he hit. Hagler had a granite jaw!

This was epic solely because tyson was KO'd. It was'nt really a brawl or anything that would define a "Great Round"

I listed a round that was "great" only in the sense it was significant too. When you say great you mean good action and fighting. I agree with you.

I went back and watched Marciano Walcott round 13 and there was virtually no action at all until Marciano landed that unbelievable right hand. So, I have to concede it wasn't really a great round either, just a significant one historically.

Another good topic we could bring up is great knockouts....as well as knockouts when a fighter was losing. One of the most brutal KO's I've ever seen was Julian Jackson v. Herol Graham. If anyone hasn't seen Julian Jackson's knockout reel, I recommend it. He has my vote as one of the hardest punchers of all time. I don't mean to change the subject but I just wanted to add a cool video or two.

Can't believe the ref didn't pull his mouthpiece right away and call it...they do that because when you're knocked cold you don't get as much oxygen... and if you don't get the mouthpiece out right away it's tough to get out.

Edit: LMAO that was Joe Cortez doing the counting. It figures;

You're right there. Tyson seemed a bit off so maybe he didn't have a decent training camp.

Have you guys ever seen this one? Here you have the 2 last rounds of this one, but the last, the round 5, is definitely one of the greatest (and funniest) ever. Have a look at this...

I agree, Johnny. The Gatti-Ward trilogy will live on forever in boxing fan's memories.
In terms of great rivalries, the old timers used to talk about Rocky Graziano-Tony Zale, of Willy Pep-Sandy Saddler. In my time, it's been more the Frazier-Ali trilogy (although imo, Norton is the real Ali nemesis). But we've had several more than memorable rivalries in the last decades. Another one that should be mentioned is definitely Israel Vasquez-Rafael Marquez. Here are the 3 first fights:

I am sorry but Corrales Castillo I has not only the greatest round (10), but perhaps the greatest turn around and is probably the best fight at the highest level ever, if not the last 20 years. It is what DeLaHoya - Trinidad or Toney - Jones should have been.
