Imagine if you could do things on your computer just like you do them in real life. If natural movements replaced all those clicks and taps and drags and drops. Imagine if technology finally figured out people, instead of the other way around. That’s the Leap Motion Controller.
It senses your hands and fingers and follows their every move. It lets them move in all that wide-open space between you and your computer. So you can do everything without touching anything. It’s the tiny device that will change the way you use technology. It’s the world’s most natural technology that just might change the world.

Strange! I heard on the tech news an hour ago that some computers printers will now be in 3d: you will be able to create a tri-dimentional object with your printer. Don't ask me how this will work...

Huh?
This is old news. They've been around for a while and consumers are using them. Did you see the news that a guy 3D printed a gun in the US?

In a nutshell. You input the design into the printer via your computer and the printer (which looks like a box) uses material which you've stocked it with (usually a resin or similar) and then prints by layers. By doing it this way you can get very intricate designs.
The first consumer uses will be able to design something (mugs, jewellery, ashtrays, keyfobs, etc) exactly to your own specification or the ability to just buy the plans online and print at home. Futurists believe this will be how we will mainly shop in the future - so buying a pizza, will be on a click of a mouse and it will be built for us (and baked) in our own home.

Wow! Thanks, Seanchai! I'm always late when it comes to technology...
I probably was so impressed by the perspective of such a device that I didn't understand what else they were talkin about.

Yeah look up that gun thing - pretty scary - but the implications of shopping online have changed massively (in the same way instead of buying a record we can just download and if we want print the cover).

Combine nanotech with 3D printing and Star Trek replicators aren't far behind! The Leap Motion Controller is fascinating, but delicate, refined work will still involve an intermediate device for detail, pressure, etc. Rather vague movements in mid-air might work for Tony Stark grabbing a chunk of holographic data and tossing it into the recycle bin, but not for detailed, refined movements.

I've thought this myself. But they'll probably sell the printers for 50 bucks, and charge Two Hundred for the "ink"

You got that right! Ink jet ink is the most valuable fluid on the planet on a cost-per-liter basis.

and besides there nothing natural and amazing about doing touch screen controls in mid air

the issue with the gun cracking or breaking has been solved . A REDSIGN SOLVED IT.

the guy put more then 1000 rounds thru a printed AR-15

Defense Distributed Prints An AR-15 Receiver That Has Fired More Than 600 Rounds

Defense Distributed (http://techcrunch.com/tag/Defense-Distributed), a group run primarily by gunsmith Cody Wilson, has released a video of an AR-15 with a 3D-printed lower receiver firing off over 600 rounds, a unique feat in the realm of 3D-printed parts. The part, called the AR Lower V5 (http://defdist.tumblr.com/post/44209819568/printed-ar-lower-v5-review), worked nearly perfectly while firing 600 rounds and, as Wilson notes, “the test ended when we ran out of ammunition, but this lower could easily withstand 1,000 rounds.”
The AR-15 is a modular firearm and Wilson and others are attempting to modify – and eventually replicate – using 3D printers. Gunsmiths have been building gun parts for decades and so this is definitely nothing new. However, with the ubiquity of 3D printing and the ease with which manufacturers can design and share models, the process of 3D printing a gun is ramping up quite quickly.
