Yeah, don't go if you don't have to. It's bloody stinking humid hot, the Arabs basically hate everyone who isn't an Arab and they treat women (and presumably TS gals) like dogs, except dogs get treated better.

i think it depends why you're going. if it's vacation i hope you have an itinerary because there isn't much out there unless you like watching really rich people watch their horses race or gold souks.

if you're lucky, you'll ran into some interesting people (i ran into some pretty sweet russian chicks when i was there) since there is a pretty big expat community there

I agree; Thailand, RP, wherever, just not the UAE. OK so the OP may have no choice, going for work, whatever. In the 70s and 80s I travelled a lot in the Arab/Muslim world (was in Iran on the eve of the Revolution, that was scary times) but since the wave of religious and political extremism that began then has spread and intensified, I now avoid these places like the plague. In most, nothing that a Westerner might call fun is approved of and much of it flat illegal, with penalties that are at best utterly ludicrous. If I had to go for work, I'd go, do the job,live like a monk, and come home.

There are a lot of very positive qualities about the people in these countries, but the theocracies they live under are unpleasant at best.

There are some Chinese women on al-Salam Street in Abu Dhabi who rent phones by the minute for the Indian workers, I was told that some at some times of the day and night might be willing, but these things fluctuate in a place like AB. There are over half a million Filipinos in the Emirates, it ought to be possible to strike up a friendly relationship with someone in a shop or a hotel and arranged to meet her for something to eat (there are Filipino buffets in Abu Dhabi not sure about Dubai) and who knows what follows (but she may also hope/expect a marriage proposal and a ticket to the West) and statistically there must be some Filipino femboys who can extend their repertoire in private and it can all be done with discretion.
