In hispanic areas, he's very popular, he's the hispanic Miss Cleo basically. He's a failed tv talk show host who magically became "walter mercado" overnight.

Walter was on channel 41 NYC for many years giving out horoscopes (in Spanish) to bored housewives until he was fired a few years ago and replaced by el Ninyo prodigal (the prodigal child). Walter played himself in several flicks.
