Camera guys/producers: STOP shooting close ups with wide angle lenses... you make even the hottest models look like retarded nightmares. Take the extra 10 seconds out of your day to switch lenses. An ounce of production value goes a long way.

I'm editing content for a new site that has nothing to do with me... I'm complaining on behalf of all models and people who take pride in their productions. I just keep seeing this same annoyingly lazy approach to shooting time after time and it really gets under my skin. You are charging real people real money to look at this stuff... MAKE IT COUNT.

Another one that gets me is where the model can't seem take her eyes off the photographer's, or sometimes someone else's, dick. Sure, I understand the girls probably appreciate a bit of eye candy for fluffing reasons, and perhaps the dicks in question are exceptional (:)), but for the viewer, seeing the girl constantly look off camera is disconcerting and so a put off, for me at least.

How the model engages with the camera (for solo scenes) and with her partner for sex scenes, are what make hot porn, IMHO ...

dunno closeup ass shots can look good with wide angles, like much of the brazzers stuff is shot that way when they do the booty shaking/asshole fucking stuff ..Sure some of it can look silly distorted on tranny shit etc ... or if its shot wrong, especially face closeups etc ..

see for me with solo scenes i think its better if the model looks at the camera as to engange that hte camera the is the other person in room with her ... in hardcore i hate hate seeing models look at camera ..

Girls what's it like doing scenes? Does the camera operator get in the way, difficult to listen too or is it all fairly easy? I say TS girls should be the camera operators.

Just make sure the camera man is using a something akin to a 85/50mm zoom and to stand the fuck back. Everyone one loves their big expensive wide angle prime but it's not the all purpose lens they'd like to believe it is... that's what the cheapo lens that came with the kit is for. Use it. Even if it makes you feel like you're slumming.

Depends on the photographer. Personally, every one I've met and had modeled for, it has been a very fun experience.

As a model, I find it very easy to work with any photographer, instructor or otherwise. But more or less, if the photographer does give small instruction here or there, it shows they care about the product at hand and of course wanting to make the model look as best as they see fit.

I've got no problems at all if one were to change lights around, change lenses, or make sure angles and body positions are proper.
Otherwise bad angles, lighting problems, "hiding the goods", or hiding every best part of the girl lol.

To specifically answer your last part tommy lol.....Jamie and I help each other out all the time with shoots. If she needs me to shoot and vice-versa, we are constantly handling the camera, giving instuction, moving the lights, checking focus, and changing lenses. :) All in a good days work of providing you with the best quality porn-del-la-shemale con queso! lol Everything is better with some cheese :p

I don't disagree regarding wide angle and close headshots. But that said, I think that given you largely shoot in your own space, you might be out of touch with where and how some of this content is shot. There's been so many times I've shot in spaces where a wide angle lens is the only option for shooting given the lack of depth in the room. Standing the fuck back isn't always viable.

Wendy, I was just about to say the same thing. I am a retired wedding photographer and I can remember that some bride's houses that I had to shoot in were so small that a wider angel lens was necessary. Of course I see no reason to use a wide angle lens when shooting a portrait type shot as they can really distort the facial features. I also think a wide angle lens at the right angle can make the penis look larger than it is and that might be one of the reasons they are used to much.

That's a fair point ...

For my fiftieth birthday - I'm an old fart - I treated myself to two new lenses, but neither prime. I got a 100-400mm 4.5-5.6L for sports and wildlife and as a walkabout lens to replace my kit lens, I went for a 24-105mm f/4L. The only prime lens I own is my nifty fifty. I reckon the 24-105, on the right body, would be ideal for some indoor hanky panky ... :)

A 50mm is maybe the most useful lens for shooting people in a variety of settings because of the minimal distortion.

Sounds like your shooting a full frame DSLR Shelf. I myself am a Nikon DX guy and my favortite lens for practically everything is the Nikon 18-200. If I do need something wider, I have a Sigma 10-20.

Re-read my post Wendy. Don't use WA on close ups. That's the whole point I'm making. I shoot with a Sigma 20mm F1:8 prime for my masters in my small apartment. Out of touch is the very last thing I am when it comes to shooting in the most resourceful ways possible. Use the appropriate lens for your CLOSE UPS so you don't make the model's face look like you want to punch it. ('stand the fuck back' in this context means about 3 to 5 feet... if you don't have 3 to five 5 to spare then making porn is the least of your problems. At that point you put the camera down and re-prioritize your life.)

I think more facial close-ups are a plus. Not enough of them.

A wide angle is good for the below the dick shots, because it makes it look bigger...some girls need that for their ass, some don't...i like a telephoto for faces, especially when the bacground blurs, but if a girl has an especially thin face you might want a 50.

Nobody said anything about NOT shooting faces -only what lens is most appropriate so it doesn't look like a stretched out, rounded back monster face.
