View Full Version : Ford Raptor Is The Sarah Jessica-Parker Of Trucks

Was coming back from the gym up Overland and from a distance saw the nice rear of an F-150. I wasn't shy so I put my foot down and approached also checking from 3/4 view. That was some nice piece until I rolled around the front and caught a glimpse of that grill. Oh fuck, that's the worst mixed back ever. For the life of me I cannot unsee that grill now. Everything is totally ruined. You'll never see me entering a Ford Raptor unless I think nobody's lookin'.

That's what happens when FIAT takes over a successful company.
The big F O R D across the center ruins the truck, otherwise, I can't see how this truck looks at all like a horse... :-/

Must be an American thing. They're all as ugly as fuck. And over here they're too big for the roads and usually driven by arseholes.

It was weird seeing a full-sized American pickup (some sort of Dodge Ram crew-cab thing, I think) on the streets of Amsterdam when I was there. It dwarfed pretty much everything else.

Jeremy Clarkson, that pillock, reviewed the full-sized American Ford pickup at one point on Top Gear. I thought, now there's a man appropriate to that job. Even he thought it was an example of wretched excess.

(What purpose could such a vehicle serve in the U.K. unless you want to pretend you're a cowboy or something?)

Now see? If I was going for an old school truck, I'd go with one of these...specifically a 1972 Super Cheyenne.

And the trucks might be "ugly", but they're best sellers. Plus they get the job done. They do still make utilitarian versions with rubber floor mats, vinylmseatsm and plastic grills.

I've always liked the modern dodge ram trucks. The have a little bit of classic look to them. The styling is so over-the-top it's unique. Too bad they are made by dodge though. Dodge has produced some of the most unreliable, POS cars ever IMHO.

I have to agree with this- what the fuck is wrong with the American auto industry? It's like we've abandoned style altogether.

But look at the grill on the dodge ram. That has style, it might not be everyones cup-o-tea but it definitely has style.

I agree most American cars are crap. I'm biased towards toyota because my first car was a 92 tercel. It was a tough little car.

Granted I am from the "States" but I like the Raptor FORD Grill and all.

In fact I like the Raptor so much I own one and take it off roading all the time, it is a great truck nice for everyday driving and amazing off-road.

Ford is doing some amazing things (at least here in the USA) the new Fusion from the front looks like an Aston Martin and the Focus ST (first time available in the USA) is boatloads of fun to drive.

IIRC, Clarkson, aka. Mr. Power, raced it in a mall and used it for a beachhead landing with UK Marines.

Must be an American thing.

A good possibility. We like our trucks here and make good ones.

Also, the roads are terrible in Los Angeles. The Pot Hole King is either too busy taking siestas or playing the role of bandito. A nice truck IMO is the best way to get around my city. I can afford a Jaguar but I don't like that kind of attention nor the heartbreak of getting even a scratch on it.

Jaguar is turning out some beautiful cars as of late, since being acquired by Tata Motors of India, but I have to imagine that the latest designs were in the pipeline during Ford's control.

Personally if I am going to buy a car it is either going to be a Nissan GT-R or Audi S6 both have impressive tech with the Nissan being a master class in what is possible today.

Be careful when having her in the doggy-style position. Her nose is like a trunk and could still reach back and bottom you out as well.

Oh that car that is just tearing up the showrooms

As of January 2013, the Volt and Ampera models have combined global sales of more than 40,000 units, and the leading market is the U.S. with 32,598 Volts delivered since its introduction in 2010, making the Chevrolet Volt the top selling plug-in electric vehicle in the United States, and the Volt/Ampera family the best selling plug-in hybrid in the world.

So good sales that some day it may surpass the Mini Cooper

Mini sales worldwide were up 22% in 2011 over 2010, with 285,000 cars delivered across the globe. In the U.S., the brand’s largest market, 57,000 were sold in 2011, a 26% increase over 2010.

Dino is right, the Raptor is the SJP of trucks. From the back and side it looks really great, but head on she just doesn't match the hype

I never watched Buffy so I don't know much about her, but if its a choice between her and a lump of Ford, I plead no contest, front or rear, with or without grilles...

The truck I saw the other day had a driver inside that seemed to have a consciousness of the ugliness of his vehicle. He installed 4 big fog-lights in front but basically it was ridiculous like hanging Christmas ornaments off'a SJP's ears. Not buying it either way.

Our tour bus is starting to show its age - Im looking at one of these to upgrade what do you all think?

6x6 all wheel drive
Duce and a Half Diesel engine
Multi Fuel - if it burns you can pour it in the tank
10 ton hauling 20 ton towing capacity

Just the thing for a Tranny Rock band...

Good Idea I hadnt thought of that - I just liked the way it looked and the idea of having a 6 wheel drive that has enough power to drive through a building...

It would win the tow challenge with the Raptor for sure.

However with those Rock Hard springs it would have a rough ride.

You would look great driving it in a bright green minidress though.

A pal of mine has a car converted to use waste veg oil too - whenever he takes it out he gets queues of people trying to buy fish and chips from him.

Still, it must be cool to drive a vehicle that makes people hungry.
