This story got lost in the celebration of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, especially because it was originally classified as a murder/suicide. Truly sad...

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office (http://topics.nola.com/tag/jefferson%20parish%20sheriff%27s%20office/index.html) homicide detectives say a Metairie couple whose badly decomposed bodies were discovered (http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2013/02/friends_discover_decomposed_bo.html) by friends Thursday afternoon were the victims of a double murder. Both had been shot in the head (http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2013/02/coroners_office_says_couple_fo.html#incart_m-rpt-1), said Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the department.
"At first blush, what we thought may have been a murder suicide is now being reclassified as a double homicide," he said. Investigators have no motive for the murders of Akeem Boudreaux (https://www.facebook.com/desireyungnation9), 22, and Morris Alexander Williams, 26, a transgender woman who went by the name Milan Boudreaux (https://www.facebook.com/milan.boudreaux).
Concerned friends who hadn't spoken to the long-term couple in days forced their way into the pair's apartment at 2209 Edenborn Ave. in Metairie (http://topics.nola.com/tag/metairie/index.html) Thursday and made the gruesome discovery.
Standing the parking lot Thursday afternoon, friend Semaj Railey, 30, said she couldn't imagine the couple hurting one another, as suggested by the earlier murder-suicide classification. "I just can't see that happening," she said. "They were an ideal couple in my eyes."

God I hope those PD investigate this crime like an actual murder happened and don't treat this couple like their lives were disposable.

I hate hearing about stories like this.

Sad... yes. I too hope the PD/DA takes it more than 'street justice' Its even more troubling as she was a previous victim who survived being shot 8 times.

They seemed to have been in a stable relationship too, so it makes one wonder what the motive was, if there is ever a motive for these crimes other than money or revenge or something similar. Terrible waste of life.

They may, as the two of them were killed, not just translady. But unfortunately the 48 hour period was long past when the bodies were found, and south is notorious for ignoring transviolence and murders. New Orleans is one of the worse in that regard. Plus the transcommunity itself wont keep th epressure on the police long enough to make headway. Thats the real tragedy.

I wish the cops would really make a thoroughly investigation. I wonder when the time will come when tgirls we'll be hired and employed like anyone else, instead of being always forced into prostitution to get a meal.

This is so awful. My condolences to their families and friends.

I do hope the killers are brought to justice.

It will happen over time. Thirty years ago most gay guys and girls had to go stealth in order to hold down a job. Yes, there are still some places where the same applies, but many employers have become much more tolerant, and not just because of proactive legislation but because social acceptance is increasing all the time. The same will happen for trans people, I'm sure of it.
