Saw the Edward James Olmos commercial on TV. Bizarre. Had no idea it was for a bank until the end. Looked like he was sweeping up LA again trying to get people to help. Weird upon weird.

Union Bank fora decade tried to market itself in SoCal as a business bank. It appears right now they are focused on growing their DDA (demand deposit accounts) and their agency has found perfect spokespeople for that project given our region's demographics and where new business with higher ceilings exists in retail DDAs.

Union actual kept their nose quite clean when most of the pigs stuck their snouts deep into the sub-prime troff . Now Mitsusibishi OTOH has bought into the US investment bank sector big time, so whether they are looking to sell off a true commercial banking enterprise or just build capital reserves for another run at CDOs and SCDOs is yet to be seen.
