Sorry to bring down the mood but I wanted to send out my deepest condolences to people who lost someone especially a child in the tragivc shooting at a school in Newtown CT today, I grew up less then 10min from where this happened and actually lived less then a mile from that school at one time in my life...
Not sure how much you all heard about this but I'm staying in CT for the holidays and plan on donating time and money to the family's who lost young children. It's a sad world we live in that this could happen!!

Thanks for the post. We'll have many thoughts about this horrific event in the Politics and Religion section.

Richard Wilkinson, a social epidemiologist, has written extensively on the negative impacts of inequality....

Why is violence more common where inequality is greatest?

Inequality kills

What counts is not wealth or poverty, says Polly Toynbee after reading Richard G Wilkinson's The Impact of Inequality, but your place on the social ladder:

I know it's a heavy subject and a downer but it has touched me even more so growing up and at one time lived in that town... And while I don't live in CT any more I'm here visiting for the holidays and there are already many people rushing to the aid of the victims family's and it has touched my heart this holiday season
