I am very curious about this. Do people still buy porn magazines? I know companies still publish XXX magazines. I wonder if people buy them.

It's been years since I have bought mags. They used to be a staple for me.:)

That's the generation gap right there!!
If your earliest memories of porn were when they were sold behind the counter at 7-11 or you had to go to some shit stained 'adult bookstore' to get your freak on, you are officially old skool.

I miss the mags, but it's much easier to keep your personal predilections PRIVATE in the digital age.

One of the biggest thrills of my childhood was walking home from school and seeing in front of some neighbor's house a bundle of his old porno mags tied up and set out for trash pickup the next day!!

HEAVEN.

I haven't purchased one in YEARS...not with the internet around.

If you look hard enough, you can even find PDFs of back issues of certain titles!

The last porn mag I bought was about maybe 8 or so years ago when a social friend of mine did a photo shoot, I wanted to support her by buying the magazine.

I think it was much easier to keep your predilections private in the cum-stained bookstore age, the clerk didn't know you from Adam and you were paying cash. Of course maybe I was lucky, I've spent my entire life within an hour's drive of one major northeastern city or another so I wasn't going into somewhere in a small town to buy my porn. With the internet there are all kinds of means to track who you are. Cookies, web bugs, "supercookies" (a/k/a Flash Shared Objects), etc.

What *is* easier in the Internet era is finding "niche" porn. Back in the old-school days TS porn was kinda hard to find, now it's everywhere. Today I'm still discovering fetishes I didn't know I had.

For that matter I don't even know where I'd find a porn shop in greater Boston any more. The Combat Zone around the Chinatown (née Essex/Boylston) T stop is gone. Liberty Book II, the last adult bookstore, closed some while ago. The VCR and the Internet were a one-two punch to downtown redlight districts nearly everywhere in the U.S. and gentrification delivered the coup de grâce, at least in places like New York and Boston.

You're absolutely right, BiBoyinBeantown.

You have more anonymity in from of your laptap, but every time you surf the interwebz you're leaving a digital footprint.
THe upside is that since there are literally hundreds of millions of people surfing porn everyday, unless someone does a forensic analysis of your HD because you're under investigation, there's invisibility in numbers.

There's less of the creep factor that was associated with adult bookstores.

I still remember one of the signs they had hanging over the porn mags;
PLEASE READ ALL MAGS WITH BOTH!! HANDS.

No people don't buy them that's why the companies keep publishing them

Here in the UK its very hard to find any remaining sex shops let alone find any that sell porn mags!

The tinternet is slowly but surely killing off the porn bizz.

Far too much is available free on tube sites... including my stuff.

Same as iTunes killed off HMV and some other high st record shops here in the UK

My web company now have to use Tubies to promote my stuff be we really wish they weren't here. Better to give away legit trailers we think.

That only my opinion anyway!

I haven't bought one in years. I used to buy Playboy -- for the articles -- ha ha! ;)
Well, actually, a lot of the interviews are and were well worth reading...
