It was a nice initiative. It's very unfortunate. Often in Thailand (as anywhere), it's difficult for t-women to find good jobs. Might have been a badly administrated operation or simply an attempt to make cash on ladyboys popularity. In any case yes, it is unfortunate.

I am reminded by Warren Buffett's famous quote: "How do you become a millionaire? Make a billion dollars and then buy an airline."
It is sad for the employees and their families who now will have to find other work, but airlines are rarely profitable and while I am sure some would buy a ticket just to have a Ladyboy work their flight, many are just looking for the cheapest ticket available and being a Ladyboy airline just does not seem like a business case to me.
