I did. I really did. It's just that I use Paul Ryan math. He says he ran his only marathon in 2 fifty something, when in fact he ran it in 4:03. I ran my only marathon in 4:08, which means i nailed it in 3 hours by Ryan math.

By the way, is anyone familiar with Duluth? I'm just wondering if it's very hilly or if it's pretty flat as much of the land around the Great Lakes is. Just curious how tough the Duluth Marathon course would have been.

Don't get me wrong... I think finishing any marathon in just about any time is a solid achievement. I just don't lie about my time. Oh wait, I guess I just did. :dancing:

Congrats on the 4:08 :) It would appear Paul Ryan is a pathological liar. It's a conservative value these days :(

Still, if it's a genuine mathematical error by the upstanding Mr Ryan, it does make you wonder whether the numbers in his budget are kosher.....

irl I've snagged friends and relatives in silly lies about athletic achievements. One time my buddy told everyone at our club that he beat the tennis pro and it turned out they never even played one another. Lying about such minor accomplishments is so babyish but I find it extremely annoying, as well as revealing a deeper character flaw.

Paul Ryan is in great shape and I admire his exercise commitment. absolutely no need to bullshit about his marathon time

I lie about my max benchpress by about 20 pounds because I think that if I had maxed out at a certain date when I was a bit stronger than a previous max attempt I might have done it. But it's a lie no doubt.

People are tempted to lie about things like that but the quantum can be revealing as well. You can never justify more than a five or ten percent lie. I say that acknowledging the irony as well as the slippery slope.

But when people tell absolute whoppers, like shaving over an hour off of a marathon time I think it's pathological. Had he said, "I remember running just under 4 hours".

It's dangerous when a politician believes any lie can be justified to his way of thinking under the appropriate circumstances.

It takes an effort to lie with the regularity that Paul Ryan does for most people. It reflects a character defect or a deeper pathological psychological dysfunction
Rep. Ryan has benefited from a mistaken media driven image of being one of the last true principled legislators on Capitol Hill when the truth is he's a new breed political crony who learned his trade at the feet of Newt Gingrich.

I hope the American people are smarter than this.

Ask any long distance runner their best time. They'll tell you the hour, the minute, the second.
