There was a note - content presently undisclosed. Left in a car parked near the bridge. The contents may emerge soon or presumably later at the inquest.

It's been reported that he had inoperable brain cancer. R.I.P. Tony Scott. True Romance will always be one of my favorite films.

He directed some good movies, I wish his family well.

That is such a bitch... the cancer. I have two friends dying that way now.

I'm not the biggest Ridley Scott fan (though LOVE Blade Runner), but his other brother's death hit him hard when he was much younger (see the sepecial features on the Final Cut of Blade Runner for more info) so as well as the usual sympathies, I hope he manages to cope with this other tragic loss...

In-operable brain cancer. At least he made his own decision when to go and not to have to suffer through that. The guy was a thrill seeker, so that last jump was the ultimate thrill before Fade To Black.

It appears Tony Scott didn't have cancer. It's almost certain he was suffering from clinical depression or bi-polar.
But... in an extroverted society we want to believe that success and achievement brings joy to one's life. That, sadly, isn't the case.

Coroner says filmmaker's family ruled out cancer in his suicide:

Sad. It's odd to be given so much from someone you never met, entertainment-wise. Man on Fire, though not a critical darling was my favorite of his, followed closely by True Romance.

True Romance.
The Last Boy Scout.
Man on Fire.
Spy Game
Enemy of the State
Crimson Tide
Revenge.

Nothing that was going to change the world but all a lot of fun for a few hrs.

Domino was my favorite of his films.
