Is a girl of abnormally high intelligence abnormal? Notice the two uses of the word “abnormal” invite an equivocation.

If a society treats girls of unusually high intelligence as abnormal human beings, then is that society ill? It certainly seems that that society would profit by treating its female members more equitably.

Mental illness is always a judgment made within a larger context. Often (not always but often) the failure of the judge to fathom the mind of another is projected onto the other as an illness. Are transsexuals mentally ill? If you sincerely answered “yes,” then perhaps you are suffering under a conceptual limitation.

Am I mentally ill? I visit HungAngels on a regular basis don't I?

1) Nikka is crazy.
2) Trish isn't smart, she's Asian.
3) No, Transsexual people are NOT crazy, but I can't begin to imagine the shit they've been through from an early age. Going through puberty in school could cause permanent damage to anyone. The drama of adding gender drama to that mess is too much on top of too much.
