Trolls troll...that's just a fact of life. I'll tell you what I told Kelly when she started her thread...it's a political thread. Stick it where it belongs.

That's the point...she wasn't trying to be political when she posted it. She was just saying the president can sing, which has NOTHING to do with politics. The other responses turned it into a political thread.

I KNEW this thread would be moved; I'm surprised the other one hasn't.

It's clear the Obama-Is-Smooth thread was posted with apolitical intent because Obama IS smooth. Rmoney, not so much.

yea that should have been moved too. but it got big so fast with a lot of mainstream posters making comments. now it doesn't really make sense.
sorry for the inconsistency.

If Romney did become President, he would be the first true businessman holding that office since Herbert Hoover.

If Romney did become President, he would be the first true businessman holding that office since Herbert Hoover.

There isn't a lot of difference between Obama and Romney.
Obama, in a lot of ways, is worse than Bush.
And, too, every president just becomes enmeshed in the system, in the structure. Whereby corruption is rampant. Whereby you simply serve power. Whether it be state power or corporate power. If one can even distinguish between the two at this point -- :)
And, too, who knows... under Romney power in the executive could become even more centralized.
What has happened in the last 30 years: government has moved more and more to the right.
Reagan, by all accounts, was a liberal. As was Bush Sr. Clinton was a fairly moderate Republican. Bush Jr. was a moderate. Yes! A moderate. Because he didn't run the executive branch. It was Cheney. (A good book that addresses this is: Worse than Watergate by John Dean. Who points out that Cheney essentially ran the extremely centralized executive branch.) And since Obama assumed the presidency, well, executive power has become even more centralized. And this is dangerous. If we live in a so-called democracy. Whatever the hell that means -- ha ha!

Thom Hartmann conjectures that Mitt Romney is a sociopath. Well, it'd be almost impossible to tell.
But apparently sociopaths do gravitate to positions of power. Whether they become a Head of State or a Head of a corporation.
And it'd be far easier to do one's job as a CEO if one were a sociopath. Ya know, being forced to lay off workers when profits fall and then sleep soundly at night. I should underscore: I do not think the vast majority of CEOs are sociopaths. They're simply doing a job that requires them to be, well, less than benevolent.

He really is Gordon Gekko -- :) A lot of people admire Gordon. In neoclassical economics he's a rational wealth maximizer.
Romney, also, I'm guessing, believes that we, in neoclassical jargon, can have infinite growth on a finite planet. But the laws of physics and chemistry forbid this.
I'm guessing, too, that the likes of Gekko and, too, Romney believe they're engaged in meaningful activity.
But in order to be truly happy -- I'm talking about pure happiness; not hedonism; not thrill seeking -- one has to engage in meaningful activity. Meaningfulness would include, say, marriage or raising a family. These are fairly conservative beliefs -- :)

Ben, what's your Times log-in code? ha ha

Big Money is the only reason Romney won the primaries!!!

He's going to London to show he's a player on the world scene. Or is it because his wife's got a show horse in the Olympics!!
