The UK government recently announced plans to make it possible for our intelligence services to read all and any postings to forums like this or e mails and other web communications to be read by our security services.

Seems as if the US is well ahead in the snooping business.

Emotive is a one year project funded by EPSRC and the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (DSTL). The aim of the project is to take inputs from social media and email, identify key words and phrases through natural language processing and by filtering through taxonomies and ontology, provide focused output which will identify by linguistic and semantic means, hot-spots of communication. You will be involved in all aspects of the project and extensive knowledge of natural language processing, taxonomies and ontology are essential.
A PhD in knowledge organization, information retrieval or a cognate area is essential. Relevant research experience is desirable.

i assumed our highest Government Servants, incl Spooks, have been active in this field (TS/TV/CD) for quite some time. And have been bending over backwards to keep us free from subversives. Hope they make better use of the search facility than many of the members here.
