I knew Mustaine was a born-again Christian and fairly political during the 90s and beyond but this is still a surprise.

A Conservative guy in rock 'n' roll must be treated like...

Megadeth - Public Enemy No. 1 - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Q3gUUs33wY)

Speaking of news, you were a correspondent for MTV during the 1992 presidential election. What's your take on US politics in 2012?

"I'm just hoping that whatever is in the White House next year is a Republican. I can't bear to watch what's happened to our great country. Everybody's got their head in the sand. Everybody in the industry is like, 'Oh, Obama's doing such a great job...' I don't think so. Not from what I see.
"Looking at the Republican candidates, I've got to tell you, I was floored the other day to see that Mitt Romney's five boys have a $100 million trust fund. Where does a guy make that much money? So there's some questions there. And watching Newt Gingrich, I was pretty excited for a while, but now he's just gone back to being that person that everybody said he was – that angry little man. I still like him, but I don't think I'd vote for him.
"Ron Paul… you know, I heard somebody say he was like insecticide – 98 percent of it's inert gases, but it's the two percent that's left that will kill you. What that means is that he'll make total sense for a while, and then he'll say something so way out that it negates everything else. I like the guy because he knows how to excite the youth of America and fill them in on some things. But when he says that we're like the Taliban… I'm sorry, Congressman Paul, but I'm nothing like the Taliban.
"Earlier in the election, I was completely oblivious as to who Rick Santorum was, but when the dude went home to be with his daughter when she was sick, that was very commendable. Also, just watching how he hasn't gotten into doing these horrible, horrible attack ads like Mitt Romney's done against Newt Gingrich, and then the volume at which Newt has gone back at Romney… You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House... and that it's Rick Santorum."

Relax, Liberal Metalheads. Dave Mustaine Did Not “Endorse” Rick Santorum (http://reason.com/blog/2012/02/16/relax-liberal-metalheads-dave-mustaine-d)

All you contraceptive-using (http://reason.com/blog/2012/02/15/president-santorum-would-talk-about-the) headbangers out there can breathe a sigh of relief. Although it was widely reported (http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2012/02/15/megavest_dave_mustaine_endorses_rick_santorum.html ) yesterday that Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine had endorsed social conservative darling Rick Santorum for president, it turns out Mustaine was just the latest victim of the media’s well-known bias (http://reason.com/blog/2009/12/08/the-politics-of-hardcore-punk) against right-wing rockers. According to the statement Mustaine released today (http://www.billboard.com/news/megadeth-s-dave-mustaine-not-ready-to-endorse-1006203392.story#/news/megadeth-s-dave-mustaine-not-ready-to-endorse-1006203392.story):
Contrary to how some people have interpreted my words, I have not endorsed any presidential candidate. What I did say was that I hope to see a Republican in the White House. I've seen good qualities in all the candidates but by no means have made my choice yet. I respect the fact that Santorum took time off from his campaign to be with his sick daughter, but I never used the word “endorse."
So don't go burning your copy of Rust in Peace just yet (burn everything Megadeth released after it, of course, if you already haven't).

Megadeth

Megadeth (http://www.billboard.com/news/artist/megadeth/5179) frontman Dave Mustaine's not ready to cast his vote just yet.

"Contrary to how some people have interpreted my words, I have not endorsed any presidential candidate," the rocker said in a release after earlier reports had him backing Republican Rick Santorum on Wednesday. "What I did say was that I hope to see a Republican in the White House. I've seen good qualities in all the candidates but by no means have made my choice yet. I respect the fact that Santorum took time off from his campaign to be with his sick daughter, but I never used the word 'endorse.'"

In an earlier interview with MusicRadar.com (http://www.musicradar.com/news/live/interview-megadeths-dave-mustaine-talks-guitar-politics-and-todays-music-529703/2), Mustaine had critical remarks for the rest of the Republican field.

"I was floored the other day to see that Mitt Romney's five boys have a $100 million trust fund. Where does a guy make that much money? So there's some questions there," he said. "And watching Newt Gingrich, I was pretty excited for a while, but now he's just gone back to being that person that everybody said he was - that angry little man. I still like him, but I don't think I'd vote for him."

He added that Santorum, who won caucuses in Colorado and Minnesota as well as the Missouri primary last week, "has some presidential qualities."

"I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House... and that it's Rick Santorum," Mustaine was quoted as saying.

Mustaine is the latest rocker to come out in favor of a Republican candidate, with Kelly Clarkson (http://www.billboard.com/news/artist/kelly-clarkson/498064) drawing fire in recent weeks for her Twitter backing of Ron Paul.

Evidence that playing in a very loud band damages not just your hearing but also your brain.

Dave Grohl's Mom was a Teacher with my Brother in Fairfax County Va. Dave and his Sister used to hang out on "Teacher's Days" so they wouldn't have to pay for a sitter. She quit being a teacher so she could be a "Band Mom" for Nirvana. My Brother said Dave was a goofy little kid...imagine that.

The Republicans that live in rural white areas with no crime and where everybody knows everybody, they SHOULD scream for Santorum. Family values, God, right to bear arms, that stuff actually works out in America's heartland. People don't even lock there doors out there, probably.
Romney is just another business as usual GW Bush. People who make under 100K a year should either vote for Obama or Santorum.
