View Full Version : The world is getting really silly

I was just taking a little break from things and flipping through the channels. I ran across some show on VH1 with Flava Flav, wearing a huge clock on his chest and leapard skin lined goggles (I point out the wardrobe choice, because it's idiotic from my perspective, apologies to those who like the clock/medalion combo) hiding behind a velvet curtain and grabbing girls asses.

It's probably obvious that entertainment is invovled in a race to the bottom. I'm just curious if anyone else thinks things are currently undergoing a downward spiral, Future Shock kinda deal. Running out of ideas.

Totally off topic, just an observation.

Oh, I forgot to mention, he was also wearing a crown. I mean really, that's just goofy, unless you won a milkshake drinking contest at Burger King or something.

To each their own, but come on.

I'm just saying. Just being silly for it's own sake is kinda dumb. And I work with lot's of silly people.

Of course, liking silly is another thing, I suppose. . .

Who the hell am I to judge? I'm pretty silly myself. . .But I don't wear a damn crown!

Perhaps that makes me bitter.

It's a "show" called Flavor of Love and I confess that I do watch it. It's like the Bachelor, but with Flavor Flav and yes, it's insanely ridiculous, but what the hey? Life in general in getting to be that way.

Yeah I'm pretty much reality tv'd out.You pretty much know how it's going down after the first 15 minutes.I can't even imagine what will be the next idea for a show.

I will say there are some big bootie chicks on the show. I like the tight girl butts myself, but have nothing against the more volumptous butts either.

But Flava Flav is just turning into a complete goofball.

Yeah, I guess TV was much more uplifting in the good old days... Shows like Hopalong Cassidy, Dennis the Menace, Father Knows Best, Mr. Ed, F Troop, Gomer Pyle, Beat The Clock, The Donna Reed Show, The Brady Bunch, My Mother the Car, The Mod Squad, Wagon Train, Hee Haw, Adam-12, Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Flo, The A-Team, Alf, Hello Larry, Incredible Hulk, Manimal, Morton Downey Jr., Square Pegs, and all the shows from the 1950s-1980s were so much better than the trash we're now watching.

Back then TV shows were intellectually stimulating. They uplifted our society. I still ponder the life lessons I learned from One Day at a Time and Webster back in the 1980s.

It must be future shock! Devolution! The end of the world!

I never implied it was the end of the world. You did a good job of catagorizing really bad television shows though.

I never watched "Square Pegs", but I heard that was actually pretty good.

I'm glad you can take a joke! The world would be a better place if more people had thick skin like you... I meant no disrespect and just wanted to have fun wth your post (as you noticed)...

As for Square Pegs, it's been rebroadcast on TV Land recently, like all sitcoms it's mediocre at best.

Hey, I LOVE F Troop! And Mr. Ed! Doesn't mean it's good culture. Same with most reality TV...

Likewise: Just because it's called "The News," doesn't mean it's true.

No disrespect taken, and I do have a thick skin.

I love the debate, but if you fuck with me for no reason I will hit back really, really hard.

Cheers, it's all good fun. Welcome to the club.

I have been blaming Andy Warhol (sp) for years because he "promised" everyone 15 minutes of fame and now it seems like everyone is trying to collect.

It doesn't matter how, they just want it. How else could you explain The Jerry Springer Show. (I do watch when I can).
