This is nice to see...guess Putin's shirtless pics aren't as intimidating as they used to be. :)

Putin will still find a way to win. I don't blame those people for being a little worried. Vlad will punish many when he returns.

lol...I don't doubt that he'll win (I'm not even completely sure he'd lose in a 100% fair election)...but it's good to see that they're not totally laying down and letting him step all over them without a peep.

It's definitely a sign of progress. Do you know about the people that might run against Putin? Any strong challengers?

Well the election results are listed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_legislative_election,_2011
It would be nice to get some insight from some of our Russian or Eastern European members...but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

Ilya is a member here but he's usually fixated on other larger things. Didn't the results of the election make it more difficult to amend the Constitution making it harder for Putin to change term limits? They better keep a good eye on him unless they want a Czar.

Putin is an old KGB man, I have always thought the day he took power was boom and Bane for Russia. He has made them an econmic powerhouse, but he has also made them restrictive socially.

I've heard him mentioning forming a Eurasian Union.
