I like the color scheme--a nice evolution of the existing scheme. The page (http://www.hungangels.com/blog/index.php) is way too long; with dependencies, the version I see (deing dynamic it changes with each serve) is 2184.88 KB, which will take over 5 and 1/2 minutes to download on a 56.6 dialup connection: remember than 40% of the US is still on dialup, not broadband. And there's the 3-click rule on the web: you lose 1/3 of your visitors with every click, and few will scroll more than 3 clicks down the page (though the tempting photos probably dismiss this particular rule in this case, no doubt).

Of course, this doesn't matter for those of us who bookmark the forum and bypass the homepage, but it's something to consider.

Biggest problem imho: navigation. The box with the Navigation header (The Boards/Forums) and the Latest Forum Posts should be at the very top; they're useless below the fold. Also, this right column navigation area is rather piecemeal, and there's no distinction between what's HA and what's linked offsite. I strongly suggest moving the Navigation and Latest Forum Posts boxes to the top, above the Featured Hung Angel. Also, why even have a Navigation box with only one link? Better to link to each of the forums?

I think you would immediately increase the user friendliness and navigational value of the page by simply adding a row of top links underneath the Hung Angels logo area:

Forums | Archives | Party Photos | DVD Store | Blog

each linking to its section, plain and simple. Easy to navigate. Then provide all the extra content you want below, but don't force users to scroll and hunt and peck to find stuff.

I like showing the girl of the month for SMY, and I'm sure that's a very nice piece of marketing on seanchai's part (kudos, sir, you should get some real bounce from that placement); this probably represents a very nice revenue stream for HA.

I like the Featured Hung Angel, which raises the question: are there guidelines for sites to buy into this promotional space?

You're not constraining the width of the main content area, so for some archives it pushes the border of the container wider than intended. More to the point: why set the container to a width of 906 pixels? That hardly matches any standard resolution. The defacto standard for web design today is 800x600; any wider and you force horizontal scrolling at that resolution. If you opt for 1024x768 (are you running metrics which report back on user agents, giving the percentages of users at various resolutions?), then why not go wider than 906? Just seems an odd width to standardize on to me.

I agree that it's a tad too long. You might want to downsize the pictures and link them to full page stories. That way, if visitors like what they see, they can always get the full news layout. The left-hand side looks a little cluttered, too.
