Advertising is what I do for a living. That commercial with Keith Stone was intended for the redneck loser hillbilly types. The guy is nothing special in any way. The message of the ad was to convince redneck losers that if they buy Keystone Beer, they will become a cool lady's man.

Of course the guy's name was a play on words of the beer.
Keith Stone = Keystone. The idea was that you would remember his name and and trigger your mind for the beer's name also.

I thought this ad was lame. I would have never come up with it.

Instead of looking at the ad in a literal sense, try looking at the humor. Its obviously sophmoric humor aimed at male underaged/newly minted drinkers who dont have a lot of cash to spend on beer instead of "redenck hillbillies".
