View Full Version : If the U.S. goes to hell, what's your weapon of choice??

I checked around the crib and all I've got are two old ass iron crow bars and some kitchen cutlery knives.lol
Think I need to make an investment in something with better long range accuracy.
After 2012 when the POTUS is an R(Romney/Perry), I think shit is going to crater big time nationwide, like soup lines awful.

My weapon of choice will be my crazy-ass, gun-toting, redneck neighbors. I've already looked into reloading equipment and supplies to keep them happy. I live in a town where the stray cats outnumber the people and the iron outnumbers the cats. It's a =very= safe place.

Given all the gun-accidents that occur in the U.S. during hunting season, I'm not worried. I'm sure my gun-toting enemies are too stupid to survive gun ownership. I'll just sit and sip my espresso while they shoot themselves.

He did make sense in that video... but to be honest, the US's debt is more or less hyped up propaganda. Contrary to popular belief, the United States has far more than the 21 billion barrels of untapped reserve oil that is shows on paper, and more like 1.3 TRILLION barrels! So even if the US sold each of those barrels for the ridiculously low amount of $14 dollars, we would erase our debt instantaneously. The US and the UK alike are in the business of selling fear, not dissimilar to what happened in the old "Chicken Little: The Sky is Falling" story... please folks, don't believe the hype

If you think you need something you probably do. Think of it as an insurance policy that hopefully you'll never have to use. A nice custom Remington 700 would definitely meet any requirement for range and accuracy.

He said it was an investment. I have a pre-ban Armalite M-15 .223 with a match barrel and trigger that cost me $1100. It's accurate, semi-auto, and accepts 30 round mags.

I imagine when things get real bad, mobility is gonna be important and setting up a good nest may not be practical or that beneficial. I guess it depends on your supplies and fortifications. But even with plenty of non-perishables water's gonna be a bad business unless you got a well.

I'll sprinkle the right and the left with equal amounts of Lawry's Seasoned Salt. You mentioned the right being zombies. Let's round up the left now and cook them in the same pot. They might just need a different zombie potion.

Around the time that Serbian nationalists (with support from Greece and Israel) were trying to create a Serbian super-state, laying siege to Sarajevo, and slaughtering Bosnians, I found myself at lunch with some engineers whom I admit I did not know well. The conversation turned to the epidemic of slaughter in the Balkans -they conceded that if there were a similar melt-down in the UK the 'blacks' would be the first to go. I said nothing, I think what shocked me most was the casual offhand way that the assumption was made. When I read comments to articles in the press, notably the Telegraph, I do realise how much unexpressed -if irrational- hatred there is here, and as yet another high profile politician behaves as if 'we the people' are simply irrelevant to the enrichment of his friends, the ingredients of melt-down, led by cynicism, are there, although I dont expect it to happen. The Blacks, would, of course, be slaughtered en masse in the USA but then this is a disgusting thread that I didn't think I would contribute to, as it assumes as a given that chaos is the only consequence of economic decline, accompanied by wholesale violence, a complete rejection of Steven Pinker's thesis that, historically, human societies are less violent than ever before.

Pinker doesn't say we won't ever again return to wholesale violence and his evidence that foraging societies were/are hyper-violent was sketchy at best.

For one I doubt that chaos will ensue but if it did the major problems would be in the cities ( where the gun control is) out in the country; however, there would be minimal violence if any and yes most of us do own firearms, I live in state that is very nice to us gun owners, so if I had to choose just one weapon it would be a AR10 or G3 clone, twenty rounds, semiautomatic, with a 16 inch barrel.
To Trish for one I will admit that some hunters are less than careful but the majority are more aware of what is going on around them then others and very careful and follow the four rules of firearm safety. Although while you are on your high horse, I will go out on limp and guess you drive a car well the number of people who die from car accidents each year are far more than firearms.
The problem in the cities would be that if chaos ensued only the criminals would have guns because they do not care about magazine limits or anything else most of their weapons are got from outside the country and are smuggled in, and of course because of wonderful gun control the law abiding citizens will be without a way of defending themselves. Remember if someone has the right to live than someone has the right to self defense if someone has the right to self defense than someone has the right to the most effective means of self defense.

In Australia gun control is very strictly enforced by the government .the only people allowed to carry firearms are criminals and police and the only people allowed to commit a murder with a fire arm is a full time criminal lol

Are you trying to say that a cold-blooded murderer doesn't worry about a small gun charge?

Just goes to show that even with the strictest gun control, criminals find a way because they don't care about laws. AT least you have a lot of Lee Enfields that the British left being sold. Over here in America those things are going for like 500 hundred each. Where Mosin Nagants are more like a hundred.

I have a pre-Ban Belgian FN-FAL and for longer range my Elk gun should suffice ( Savage .300 Winmag with 32" bull barrel and 12x9 Zeiss Optics which I am comfortable out to 1000 Yards with it and taken an Elk at 700 yard with it ) and a 1911 .45 as my side arm.
Though I am pretty accurate with darn near any style bow as well for when the bullets and powder run out ...

Do you prefer the .223 round of the AK-74? I have a Bulgarian SA-93 that is pretty accurate for a 7.62x39mm.
I've added a few things to mine but it's still semi-auto.

It's better and more accurate than most AKs. Pretty hard to score one in California now but there's always Arizona and Oregon. I bought mine in Cypress around 1996 at B&E Guns for $279. European quality with Chinese price tag.
