I remember when my best friend Jezzie and I would come home from the bars or staying home on the weekends and she would be on the christian station all the time.

We tried and tried again to call in and prank her lol

But she used to crack me up.

I think her name is Jan

Awww, she looks adorable. Being on a Christian talk show, I'm sure I'd feel different when she opens her mouth, lol

Her name is Jan Couch she is the cofounder along with her husbnd, of the Trinity Broadcasting Network. I was rasied in a very strict Christian household and TBN was on all the time when I was younger. I grew up in the Holiness movement where women where not even allowed pants!!

You do realise how that plays here in the UK. What you call pants we call trousers, what we call pants you call underwear.

So I'm intrigued at the thought of hundreds of devout Christian women going Commando because the Lord told them to. :wiggle:

I am still fathful to point myself, but it is impossible to attend church services here in S.E Ohio. I mean in my old Holiness church I would be considered a an abomination because of thier strict adherance to
Deuteronomy 22:5
The woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

I look back at our little church now and realize just how backward, and hateful it was & to some extent still is:(

well see even tough my parents are very strict they allowed me to transition at 10, and allowed my hormone intake at 12, they say that verse means a man should never try to set her standards to a man and a man to never set his standards to a woman. There is nothing in the bible that says anything about transsexuals because clothing is a society change, the clothes we wear now would be unfamiliar to them. This is what they said, im not bashing your church or anything, so please don't take offense.

None taken dear. I was just pointing out how awkward, and backward my former church had become. It is kind of sad when I think about all the years spent there :/ Like said I am still faithful, but now I lean to non judgemental teachings, and try to draw strength from it.

I would play ignorant American, if I wasn't clear earlier, and say, "Same difference," or something from the same pot,
but I do remember someone telling me "God's first attempt when making Hell was Scotland." Is that true? (I'm being utterly facetious, my friend)

Would you want a traditional wedding, Evon? (I guess that's a stupid question when asking a girl, huh?)

That's ok, Bobby. In fact, after 300 years of a marriage of mutually loveless political convenience, Scotland could well be serving divorce papers on her partner before too long and pushing for full independence, leading to the breakup of the political and royalist union known as the United Kingdom. I'm ambivalent about it after 20+ years living off the relative fat of the land in England, but my heart is firmly with the idea if not necessarily the full practicalities of independence.

There have always been profound differences between the two countries as well. England's legal system is based on common law, Scotland's on Roman law, and has a lot more in common with the systems that prevail in continental Europe. The church and the education systems are also totally different, and the spoken language of most Scots is Lallans, which is quite a long way from English.

Add to that the fact that Scotland has always been significantly more communitarian and less individualist than England, and that the present SNP Scottish government has a benign and far more socially constructive set of policy priorities than the coalition to the south, and and it's easy to see why the drive for full separation has developed what may well be an unstoppable momentum. Finally, it appears that a majority of the English would prefer to leave the EU. That would be a disaster for Scotland (and England imho).

I've always had theories about people playing the piano. Many times they like tickling more than just the ivories.

Fek!!! My attempt at levity didn't not hit its intended mark. I was trying to be intelligent and sarcastic at the same time. You'll have to forgive me for practicing on you. I'm realizing "hell" might have been wee strong. An English friend (obviously!) told me that one many many years ago.
On a didactic note, I had no idea about these points you bring up about Scotland. How did Roman law make it to Scotland? I thought the Romans never managed to break through.....

Oh, robertlouis, I gotta go. Totally forgot about an app't. SHIT!!!!!

HA! Out here in California it came on channel "40". Which became synonymous for "shoot me now" syndrome in my household.

24/7 my mom would have this garbage on. What's funny is they would show up at the studio in seperate Mercedes Benz.

Thos 'praise-a-thons' were excruciating to watch. I mean how many TBN pens for $10 dollar donations did my mom need?

I grew up in the Holiness movement where women where not even allowed pants!!At first glance, she looked like Tammy Faye Bakker, with the hair and the makeup plastered on. I believe in GOD, but I simply cannot trust the Bible as it is too full of contradictions and too many hands have contributed to the stew.
