I'm a trans guy. Although society is largely aware of the existence of trans women, we are somewhat invisible. Most people don't know that we exist. With the amount of media coverage on Chaz Bono's transition, that is changing. But I don't approve how Chaz is representing trans men. In interviews he has made sexist comments, adding that it's acceptable because he's a guy now. He even talked about ordering his girlfriend to make him a sandwich. And he never mentions that transition isn't always a quick, one-year process for those less fortunate that him. I know that he had his struggles, but as a wealthy white male he has so much unchecked privilege. Another thing, he basically used his transition as a cash cow. Documentary on the Oprah network, autobiographical book, etc. And he is the only ftm in the mainstream media. I don't want people I meet to think I'm a jerk like him!
