I worked at a gym that Bubba Smith went to and would talk with him every day. He was probably the most approachable celebrity I've ever been around. He even got me an invite to Sports Club LA once when Kareem was being honored.

I'll always remember Bubba as a large but very gentle man who made time for everyone. I feel lucky to have known him at all. He will be greatly missed.

He was just 66, damn, loved him in the Police Academy films when i was a kid!

Bubba was a saint. I knew him for about 7 years and can't think of one negative thing to say about him. Poor guy would be in the gym for 5 hours. People wanted to talk to him and he never snubbed anyone or walked away. Total class. Complete gentleman.
