Well obviously I don't mean porn. :yayo: I was reading the other tread about the latesd movie people saw an people are talking about just any kind of movies. I guess thats fine bu why not relate it to the subject of this site?

Ok I think thats transpeople/shemales (what ever) is misrepresented and under represended in mainstream movies and limited to fringes movies. Not that these are not good, but they dont reach a wider audience. And ofcause there is the general problem with hollywood that they don show sex senes because they dont want to offend the evangeligcals.
Well ofcause there was Ed Wood and "Some like it hot" witch was actually quite daring for its time.. But anyway .. (excuse me I have been drinking Charles House scotch and Redbull. Ugly combination) Well anyway is there any tranny movies out there that has made an impression on you (apart from strict porn)?????

The Crying Game was just a good overall movie, although it became remembered just for the twist ending.

Not available on dvd, primarily a Dutch film it features Eva Robins, Romy Haag and some extras -the story isn't up to much, Michael Sarrazin plays a detective who is also a serial killer; he has a secret life: an affair with Robins, a strong attraction to transexuals etc -Robins was also in Dario Argento's Tenebrae which is still watchable for her scenes. She is simply one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.

I thought The Crying Game was rubbish- do men really vomit when they realise 'she isn't a girl' after all!?? Such a weak scene; the concept of a British soldier (played by an American) being kidnapped in Northern Ireland was daft, the whole IRA thing was daft, the whole film was daft. And so on. Ok Gaye was cute, but other than that, no.

Thanks, umm, I don't know what to call you, and "Cunty" doesn't seem right somehow. Anyway, you're a welcome, and very pretty, addition to the madhouse.

Whatever, the factory where the story originated is about 20 miles from me and still going strong, so if any of the larger ladies on HA need some robust but still sexy footwear, contact W J Brooks in Earls Barton, Northants, England!

Yes, and the crude US remake and the even more execrable musical took out all the elements of what was at base a rather touching and charming love story.

But was it actually about Transvestites? I can't recall at this distance.

Well, there was certainly plenty of dragging up.

I remebered seeing the original. But I always wondered if they used a a girl to play the main part, with a prosetic penis, at the end, or if it was a stand-in, etc?

I think the best movie I saw was "Different for Girls". They had a male play the part of the transexual, and the person was portrayed sensitively.

Anyone else seen Breakfast on Pluto starring Cillian Murphy as a young Irish transsexual during the troubles? That's as close as any resemblance to The Crying Game goes. It's a good if not great movie and Murphy is totally convincing in the lead.

Yes, it was excellent, and the lady from Desperate Housewives was a revelation as the transsexual lead.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. It had a decent portrayal of a transexual character who was actually a normal decent human being. It's based a fair bit on Carlotta, Carole is the most lovely woman who managed to cross over to the mainstream back in the early 70's.

Does The Birdcage count? Really more of a drag-queen thing but very very funny and well done, didn't desparage the scene and actually painted a good light on all of it. Also I recently saw Ticked Off Trannies with Knives. Loved it!

The Birdcage was a crude knockoff of a far better French film, La Cage aux Folles, which has already been mentioned here.

Why the fuck the American public don't take to the far superior French originals and then flock to see piss-poor Hollywood remakes is beyond me.

Too lazy, or illiterate, to read subtitles.....

BTW, I watched the first episodes of the US remake of The Killing, and thought it was pretty good, but sadly entirely unnecessary.

I saw the first and yes - thinner than the original and less good, but if you've not got access to The killing in Danish better than many other things of its ilk.

Myra Breckinridge

Good film, if flawed, but not as good as the book. Nobody has, or ever could, make a truly satisfying movie out of Gore Vidal's deliciously waspish prose, but it was a bold step to make what purports to be a mainstream movie on this theme back in 1970.

It also asks you to believe that Raquel Welch is a transsexual.....
