You don't know what the rules are at the school or the dress code..maybe she wants to dress differently and they are making her do the 'gender neutral' thing.

They tried doing that to me when I went to high school as a girl, but my parents hired a lawyer.

And unless it says in the handbook a boy has to dress as a boy and a girl has to dress as a girl. They can't do anything about it.
