It was reported on the news, so it's obviously true. It's not like the government and media would ever work together to pull the wool over the eyes of the American public...

Seriously though, I think the government is telling the truth this time. I mean, can you imagine what would happen to Obama's approval rating if bin Laden appeared on al Jazeera tonight alive and well?

The smoke screen of denial is very deep and as Ted Kennedy once said "Osama Obama" is just a side show. When our bond rating goes to B+ we will see. Economic health being relative it may not matter if we are doing bad with many other economies tied to ours and doing worse.

Osama is no more.
He ceased to be.
He is expired.
Gone to meet his maker.
He is a late terrorist.
He's a stiff, bereft of life.
...
He is a dead dude.

Pakistani who aided Bin Laden
Bin Laden's daughter confirms her father shot dead by US Special Forces

CAPITALS: Senior Pakistani security officials said Osama bin Laden's daughter had confirmed her father was captured alive and shot dead by the US Special Forces during the first few minutes of the operation carried out at the huge compound in Bilal Town, Abbottabad. Besides recovering four bullet-riddled bodies from the compound, Pakistani security agencies also arrested two women and six children, aged between 2 and 12 years, after American forces flew toward Afghanistan. Some reports suggest 16 people, including women and children, were arrested from the house, most of them Arab nationals. A Pakistani security source told Al Arabiya that Bin Laden family members had been transported to Rawalpindi, which is near Islamabad. He added, "They are now under treatment in the military hospital of Rawalpindi, where they have been transported in a helicopter." A source told Al Arabiya that Bin Laden's had been injured either in her leg or her shoulder. He added that the members of the household were children and Bin Laden's wife, in addition to a Yemeni woman. He added that the woman might be the personal doctor of the family. Bin Laden was known to be afflicted with renal failure. Sources speculated that US Forces could not arrest these family members because there weren't enough places for them in the helicopter, after they lost another chopper during the operation. About the slain woman: officials said she could either be Bin Laden's wife or a close family member since she offered to sacrifice her life for him. "As per our information, she shielded Bin Laden during the operation and was killed by American commandos," an official said. Sources said one of the two women taken into custody from the compound by Pakistani forces was one of Osama bin Laden's several wives. "She is Yemeni and became unconscious during the operation," said an official. Pleading anonymity, he said the woman was provided necessary medical aid till she became conscious. The official said a 12-year-old daughter of bin Laden was among the six children rescued from the three-storey compound. The daughter has reportedly told her Pakistani investigators that the US forces captured her father alive but shot him dead in front of family members. According to sources, Bin Laden was staying on the ground floor of the house and was dragged on the floor to the helicopter after being shot dead by US commandos. There were conflicting reports about the second person the US forces took along with them. Some Pakistani officials say it was one of Bin Laden's sons injured by the US commandos and thrown onto a separate military chopper; others say he was killed in the operation and it was only his dead body that they took along. Similarly, according to information Pakistani officials collected from detained persons, Osama was neither armed nor did inmates at the compound fire at the US choppers or commandos. "Not a single bullet was fired from the compound at the US forces and their choppers. Their chopper developed some technical fault and crashed and the wreckage was left on the spot," a well-informed official explained. Another interesting aspect, which the residents shared about the house and its inmates, was the strict behavior of the family, who in the last six years, had never allowed women of the neighborhood to enter their house or permitted their own ladies to visit neighbors. Also, children playing in the streets and nearby fields were never allowed into the compound, not even when their balls inadvertently went across. In additional news, a doctor who sold a piece of the land where Osama bin Laden's final hideout was built said the buyer, a Pakistani who apparently sheltered the al-Qaida chief, was a "modest, humble" man who did not seem to be a militant. As Pakistan sought to counter suspicions it had been harboring bin Laden, details emerged Wednesday about the small group of men who looked after the Al-Qaeda chief in this northwestern town before he was killed by US commandos. Chief among them was a man known as Arshad Khan, who neighbors said was one of two Pakistani men living in the house. Property records obtained by The Associated Press show Mohammad Arshad bought adjoining plots in four stages between 2004 and 2005 for $48,000. The two appear to be the same person, and the names may be fake. The courier allegedly trained Maad Al-Qahtani at an internet cafe in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi in July 2001 so that he could communicate by email with Mohammed Atta, the Sept. 11 financier and one of the 19 hijackers, who was already in the United States. But Al-Qahtani proved to be a poor student and was ultimately denied entry to the US when he raised suspicion among immigration officials. The Guantanamo documents also revealed that the courier might have been one of the men who accompanied bin Laden to Tora Bora in eastern Afghanistan in December 2001 just weeks before the Taliban's final surrender.

Exactly. The climate change deniers are CRAAAZY ASS BUFFOONS. The stronger the evidence, the greater the amount of crazy required to deny it.

Name calling of course makes the situation more clear. The McCarthyism of this lot is well documented. The current models can't even predict the past climate given the data from the past. Chaotic systems are very sensitive to the precision of input data. The 50 million climate refugees are no where to be found - UN predictions for 2010.

The "ether" was thrown up as a theory when Newton physics was falling short then Einstein, or his wife, stepped in and changed things. Petr HoYava gravity physics may do the same with the proposed dark energy and matter, both of which sound remarkably like the "ether."

The better reasons for not burning carbon is it will be needed for space exploration. Light materials made from carbon are needed. Moving to economical renewable, cheaper than existing source sans government market manipulation, energy sources saves carbon for the future and helps raise more people out of poverty faster. We need to use a mix of technologies until fusion and high efficiency solar arrive. People in the third world are routinely discriminated against by the climate change camp for wanting to burn prehistoric plant matter - aka oil. They get to burn animal dung in their huts instead leading to many health problems. People need to be treated as such and not like some species of zoo animal. The chances are that some people living in the jungles of South America may one day want to own a corvette. Then again, the climate change camp is more about how you live your life than about any real climate change.

Governments don't lie -- ha! ha! ha!
But just a few questions. How long did the U.S. government know Osama was in Pakistan? And in that compound?
And then they were flubbing the facts. Like he used a woman as a human shield. False. He was armed. False. I mean, it just seems like a "mob" hit, as it were.
Why not arrest and arraign him? I mean, he'd be a valuable information source. But: Dead Men tell no Tales.
I don't know. It'll be just another conspiracy theory.
Americans thrive on conspiracy theories.

Galileo would wonder how the "church of unified thought" could be reborn from what initially appears as science. Criticizing an argument is expected, but blacklisting scientists for questioning sounds like history repeating itself.

If you buy into the whole conspiracy theory. (But, again, the story keeps changing. He was not living in a $1 million compound. It was worth about $250,000 in a middle class area.)

Natina your contributions are valued as much as others, but I do think you waste space by providing links to stories we can find in any online newspaper, and you must have some format problems that provide 16 identical links in every post. I would rather you used the space giving me your opinions than simply posting pointless links.
