James Watt did not invent the steam engine; this I know for sure. Steam engines, or more specifically making steam engines viable for automotive use in the modern era is a passion of mine, and so I am very familiar with people who've played a role in the development of steam engines.

Anyway, a quick internet search has led me to a Frenchman named Ernest Duchesne as the discoverer of penicillin over three decades before Fleming... Not sure why I thought Pasteur was involved, but whatever. Moving on, Lister is not the name that comes up when I search the history of anesthesia, and inoculation appears to trace back to either 8th century India or circa 10th century China. Explanation?
