ha! ha! ha! Okay. I admit. I'm a fan -- ha! ha! Great YouTube clip. And her fans will buy her CD. And the, well, un-fans, as it were, won't... :(
But I do like hot chicks from the deep south -- Britney (born in Mississippi and raised in Louisiana) and Jess Simpson (born and raised in Texas). It's the southern charm -- and hospitality -- that's so attractive.
And according to wikipedia: "(Britney) Spears has sold over 100 million records worldwide." And: "Spears is also recognized as the best-selling female artist of the first decade of the 21st century." You can't deny that she has tremendous appeal. And: "Throughout her career, Spears has drawn frequent comparisons to Madonna and Janet Jackson, in terms of vocals, choreography and stage presence...." Well, one can see the influence that Madonna has had on her.

A kind of morbid and bizarre obsession with seeing celebs undergo a slew of stressors -- and thus a subsequent breakdown. (Albeit someone like Madonna, in her wisdom, I guess, hasn't had a public nervous breakdown.) Because most people are unfamous, well, we don't witness their personal struggles... and personal demons. We sorta feel good, in a twisted way, that celebs do suffer like the rest of society... with personal demons, as it were.
But that raises a somewhat interesting question about Britney: is Britney Spears an artist or an entertainer?
An artist is: a person skilled in creative -- or innovative -- activity. Whereas an entertainer is: a professional singer &/or dancer.
Or is she both?

Well, I really meant it in a scarcastic way. It really had nothing to do with the fascination of public breakdowns in society. Just saying that I don't find her entertaining at all. I am sure she is a lovely person BUT
Do I think she is an artist or an entertainer? Neither. I think she is lucky and got lucky-other wise she would be stripping in New Orleans. For some poeple success in life its all about timing, and she had excellent timing.

I never saw her as fabulous, as having any style (she usually looks horrid when she is out and only God knows why with ALL that money she could afford a stylist, make up artist, and hair dresser every day), nor having much talent.

But hey love her all you want- have I been guilty of mouthing to her songs after a few drinks in a club too so it is catchy. I have no hate for her, I just find her utterly boring as a performer.

Nautica, nicotine, sadly, is the hardest drug to kick. (Thankfully I've never smoked.) But the most cost-effective way to deal w/ drug use -- whether it be nicotine or alcohol or whatever -- is through prevention, education (which is the key) and treatment.
Remember caffeine is a drug. As is sugar. The government should tightly control drugs and, again, focus on treatment and education.
I'm not sure if she has ever denounced smoking.
And I've always thought she should've never promoted Pepsi. Not a good idea. But a sound business decision -- ha! ha!
Her fragrance promotion was a good business decision.

haha. was actually looking for this thread. "femme fatale" is an amazing album. i bought the deluxe edition on amazon. i wasn't sure at first, but it's definitely in my top albums of the year right beside radiohead's "the king of the limbs". i think it's inspiring that a female can come out with an album that sort of sets the bar in pop music, but also can be mentioned in the same breath as tkol in terms of pop mastery and songcraft. an album this artful. it's probably the best and most sophisticated album of its kind, in i guess the pop star genre.
