I did like them....until I saw them live at a festival in Japan. There were some great acts there like the Editors and the Artic Monkeys who I loved but I thought I'd see some other people who who were there like Avril Lavign, Gwen Stefani and the Offspring.

I also went to see the Black Eyed Peas and they were like "yeah, we're here now. We're the reason you came. We're who you're here to see" etc, etc. I just found it really disrespectful and arrogant and went off them there and then.

On a side note Gwen Stafani pissed me off at this festival too! It was the Love, Angel, Music, Baby era and she had her Japanese dolls with her. She was like "oooooh I love Japan so much! It means so much to me" and then she had her translators translate simple sentences like "hello osaka" and "how are you?". If you love the country so much then learn some of the effin language biotch!

Ouch. Comparing a group with The Banana Splits is like a Jack Tatum shot on a receiver in mid-air.

At least The Monkees had SOME songwriting talent, once they started doing their own songs. They were still miles behind the top groups of the day, i.e. Hendrix, the Dead, the Airplane, Quicksilver, Pink Floyd, Traffic, Love, Big Brother, The Doors, and The Mothers Of Invention.

Not to say that the Splits (or the Peas by extension) were terrible, but even The Archies or Josie And The Pussycats were somewhat excusable by comparison.
