If transexuals are the third sex, then are transexual admirers the fourth sex? As a lot, if not most admirers are not attracted to men and also don't consider themselves gay, are they the fourth sex?

A decent proposition, actually. Don't mind Phobun.. The majority of times his quick judgments and insults only make HE HIMSELF look like the idiot.

Are we not men?

(That actually works on a couple of levels, though it admittedly has the potential to offend.)

In Plato's Symposium, Zeus related to four genders and in Sulawesi in Indonesia there were five genders. However, the one that I think is most fitting is that in the Buddhist Vinaya where the four genders are male, female, dual sexed and the third sex. Furthermore, dual sexed can be further distinguished from bisexual, as bisexual usually refers to an active role with both male and female partners, whereas, dual sexual may mean an active role with females and a passive role with males (transexual).

Transsexuals (I guess pre-ops) are considered by some the third sex because their genital parts simply don't match with what's traditionally considered to be a "man" or a "woman" (a man has a penis, a woman has a vagina, a transperson can be a man with a vagina and a woman with a penis). Is your genitalia different than a man, a woman, or a transperson? If that's the case, call yourself the fourth sex...and post some pics of that thing.

sex, gender, sexuality and sexual orientation are not metonymous terms.

Quite right Jackal. However, there are plenty of overlaps and grey areas. Gender, by definition is a set of characteristics that varies from sex to social role to gender identity, which is the gender(s) or lack of a person self identifies in (Wikipedia). Whereas, the third sex may be an intermediate state between male and female, both, neither, the ability to cross or swap genders, or a category independant of male and female (Wikipedia). Therefore, to cross or swap gender does not have to be a permanent physical change through hormones, surgery or both. It can be through gender identity or sexual role such as the male who is active and in the mindset of a male when with a woman, yet passive and in the mindset of a female when with a male or transexual.
