But this incident with this guy, you have to take into consideration the whole mid-life crisis thing, to me that is what this looks like, so although i hate the hypocrisy of the moral family values christian right wing republicans, and do not agree with that philosophy or whatever you want to call it, and i also feel bad for his family, at the same time, i kind of feel for this guy too. Aging sucks, and you kind of go crazy, and do stupid shit to feel young. I am not close to being middle aged but i do fear the slow persistent progression of time and what it does to your body and mind. It's like that quote in the Bhagavad Gita, "Time I Am, Destroyer Of All Worlds". It's terrifying.

this congressmans first problem was taking the family values christian morality angle on things, which was the basis of his whole seat in congress, so for in the press that makes his whole situation much worse, right there is proof that we need a more honest culture and society. Ever notice when you read a news story about a politician if he/she is a republican, his party affiliation is mentioned in the headline or the first sentence. If it is a democrat, you'll have to read the last paragraph of the story to find out, or it is never mentioned at all.

i agree, i have never noticed that fact you pointed out, Cyber, and maybe you are right on with that, but i have to agree with Phobun that, for some reason the Republican stance is usually way more morally conservative and holier than thou, so the press probably reacts to a controvercy concerning them accordingly, especially if it is in stark contrast to the said Rep's moral policy.

Republicans are always the ones(married and religious of course) getting caught in gay acts like cruising public toilets, fucking their male staff, hiring male escorts, looking for gay sex online..this all of course while supporting the mainly anti gay Republican agenda.
Most Republican rant and rave about being anti-gay in public when in reality in private they are not. Elton John said that Rush Limbaugh was the first to congratulate him when Elton John got married and when Elton and his partner had a kid. Elton even said that Rush had no problem with gay marriage. So I think many Republicans play the anti gay card just to get votes or get ratings.

Classic scandal, and I personally think it's dumb to cruise CL -- too much risk and way too inefficient to meet the kind of person I'd like to meet.
Is it hypocrisy ? Formally, yes, but I think we all live with contradictions within ourselves. With few exceptions, everyone tells lies, has dark secrets, or did something in their past they'd be ashamed to reveal publicly. Nowadays there are too many news outlets, so they compete for attention by dredging up dirt on anyone newsworthy.
I don't think he should resign just for adultry. It's between him and his wife. But I see I'm in the minority on this.
