There's no such thing as all girls liking one type of guy. I know lots of nice guys that have girlfriends or are married. Many girls seem to like guys that are self confident and have a bit of an "edge".
In the short term (like a one nighter...or a series of hook-ups) that's not always easy to distinguish in someone who is a good looking asshole...but it does show up over time...that's why a lot of assholes can't keep long term relationships.

Im kind of a nice guy and its seems as if, over my adult life, the only girls who have liked me are the ones i dont care about...its like I accidentally had good game because I didn't care and wasn't trying. around the last two years of college is when I kinda picked up on it and started using it with girls. every girl i liked and tried to "please" (sexually and emotionally) didn't seem to be interested but the girls I threw around the bedroom and didnt pay attention to anywhere else...those were the girls showing up at 3am, after the bars to get fucked and calling me all the time.
but after college life is a bit different..mostly because I no longer live in a 3 block radius of 20 bars and 15000 girls. but Im pretty big and muscular and have a lot of tattos so girls mistakingly think im a "bad boy" (when in all actuality, im the kind of guy that volunteers with children and DVR's lifetime movies lol) and girls chose me as the guy they want to fuck because of that ... so i just go with it and dont really talk much. Funny, I find myself agreeing with fred41 so much of the time.

Anyway, I think it has to do partly with the age and experience of the woman. When she's young and inexperienced she may tend to go for a guy who is flashy, aggressive, or a jerk. Then after being jerked around for a few years, she changes her priorities and at that point the quiet sensitive nice guys have more of a chance.

It's hard to generalize but fun to try. :)

This issue of being nice versus a jerk is not something we guys have a lot of control over, anyway, i.e. you cannot "turn on" a behaviour except as a temporary act. Likewise, the girls choices are not something one can control. Just work your game and let the chips fall.
