View Full Version : Republicans owned by the Insurance Industry...
I'd add the Dems too. Both parties are bought and paid for by big corporations... whether it be banks, oil companies or the INSURANCE INDUSTRY.... Gotta love politics -- ha! ha! ha!

I agree with Ron Paul on many of his views. However, I dont think that big government is such a bad thing. Without government, then the coroporate dollar would have complete control. The certainly to have lots of control over government policy, but the government still does take positions on behalf of the consumer. The new finance law that linits bank fees, is one example.
In a recent thread some were criticizing the Obama Adminstration for its lack of people with what I would call corporate experience. But I responded that I thought it was a good thing. Seems like Ron Paul would agree.

I really don't have a problem with big corporations. In fact, I'd rather have a country full of corporations than small businesses, subjugate to big government. I say BRAVO. Better to be owned by corporations than corporate unions.

Oh yeah, gotta love those huge corporations - from the British East India Company to the railroad and coal giants in the late 1800s and their pals the Pinkertons to United Fruit's Latin American adventures to today's Massey Energy, Exxon, BP, Halliburton, KBR and the wonderful folks at Blackwater - scumbags all.
'Corporate unions'? Yeah, ok. Corporate lapdogs think that mega-corps are God's gift and unions should be kept small enough to be crushed under their bootheels. Funny thing though - with all the vast money and power that Big Business has brought against us over the years, Unions are still here, protecting us and making our lives better.

We already tried corporate rule. It didn't work. The few regulations that we have on the market place didn't pop into existence without a reason. They are a reaction against abuses past and present. Before government regulation of industries and before unions there was child labor, 18 hours a day/7 days a week, and economic enslavement of workers.
Some people say a man is made outta mud
A poor man's made outta muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that's a-weak and a back that's strong
You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store
I was born one mornin' when the sun didn't shine
I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
I loaded sixteen tons of number nine coal
And the straw boss said "Well, a-bless my soul"
You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store
I was born one mornin', it was drizzlin' rain
Fightin' and trouble are my middle name
I was raised in the canebrake by an ol' mama lion
Cain't no-a high-toned woman make me walk the line
You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store
If you see me comin', better step aside
A lotta men didn't, a lotta men died
One fist of iron, the other of steel
If the right one don't a-get you
Then the left one will
You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

'tis true, on the flip side, the Democratic party is beholden to labor unions, especially those epistemological child molesters of the teachers unions and the lawyers lobby. the prevailing myth is that we have a two-party system. there really is only one party: the big government party. the Republican faction assaults our civil liberties and loves war and deficits, the Democratic faction assaults our commercial liberties and loves taxes and wealth redistribution.

In a shocking disclosure the non partisan watch dog group CQ Moneyline has released it's study on Congressional travel ( junkets) paid for by private firms ( A.K.A. LOBBYISTS) since 2001, and if you'd listen to most folks on HA and the perception fostered by the Media ...you'd think Republican's were by far the biggest culprits.....ahhhh but you'd be wrong. Well how can that be you ask? You were lead to believe the fat cat Republicans were in the pocket of big business and K Street Lobbyists, and the Democrats were lookin' out for the working man. Like so many things in life...there's perception and there's reality.
Here's the reality and the rankings...
1. R. Lugar (R) Indiana 339K
2. G. Miller (D) Calif 319K
3. J. Sensenbrenner (R) Wisconsin 396K
4. H. Waxman (D) Calif. 278K
5. H. Berman (D) Calif 265K
6. M. Hinchey (D) NY 251K
7. D. Payne (D) NJ 245K
8. G. Green (D) Texas 237K
9. L. Doggett (D) Texas 227K
10. J. McDermott (D) Wash. 224K
Looks like Democrats pull down 8 of the top 10 positions. Unfortunately for them this ain't NASCAR and finishing in the top ten on this list is a dubious honor. Hey Nancy...How about "Draining the Swamp"? LMAO.
To be fair.....New rules were instituted by the Dems in 2007 to limit the abuse of private travel, and after looking at the Top Ten...I can see why !!!
** Honorable Mention goes to James Clayburn (D. South Carolina) . In between finding racists everywhere he looked for disagreeing with The Administration, seems he was able to squeeze in 93 Trips worth almost 200K.
My point with all this is not that Republicans have clean hands...they don't. It's to counter some of the misinformation that you all are so fond of spreading !

How about this? The best system is a balance between corporate, or business power, and labor power, which is best expressed through unions. The most powerful business model, is slavery. This is not theory, slavery has been practiced for thousands of years. The other most powerful business model is monopoly. It was deemed in the past, that monoplies were bad for the free market principle. Seems like in recent years, most people are not as aware of their dangers. But it is the job of the government, to promote fairness, for the market to be closer to 'free'.
We already tried corporate rule. It didn't work. The few regulations that we have on the market place didn't pop into existence without a reason. They are a reaction against abuses past and present. Before government regulation of industries and before unions there was child labor, 18 hours a day/7 days a week, and economic enslavement of workers.
Of course labor can also have too much power. The real question for the US, and the world is do we really have to have, workers live exactly like Chinese, or not?
We have a two party system. Maybe the best thing, is to have both parties co-operate and compromise for the good of the whole. It was done in the past with good results. The current climate, has media talkers preaching hate, towards those with a different political view, to the point that genocide, the worst of human crimes, is now acceptable to many towards their fellow citizens, as well as toward other ethnic groups around the world. The most important part of genocide, is to make the other appear to be non, or sub human. Respect for others is the opposite, and was taught by Jesus. Perhaps this 'Christian nation', needs to examine his words, more so than the doctrine of his physical history.

Typical blustering liberal. Why is it that when a liberal says something, he has to exaggerate and misrepresent others in order to make his delusions make any sense at all?

How about speaking to which of the facts are exaggerated, instead throwing in the "liberal" word? Although I agree with his position, perhaps if you had addressed any of his specific statements, I could recheck, and perhaps my view could be shifted. I say this forum is a microcosm of what is happening in America today. Rather than have real discussion on any issue, it becomes a matter of addressing ones general philosophy. And one is automatically wrong, because they come from a conservative/liberal viewpoint. Cant you understand that 10's of millions of people, who label themselves from political viewpoint cant all have the exact same views about everything?
Cause as far a exaggerating, I have seen you do it yourself. (Specifically, when I wrote about what Jesus said about taxes.) Or that means that you are really a liberal, because only liberals exaggerate.
You seem to take the viewpoint that corporations of how great corporations are. Someone here criticized Obama for not responding to the big oil spill adequately. That oil spill was direct result of actions of a corporation, BP. Some people complain about big government and say that it is interferring with business. Suppose the government just let BP be responsible for everything, and did not get involved at all. So Obama gets complaints for not acting quickly enough, while also getting complaints about government, interferring in our lives.

Sorry sunshine, but you didn't expose anything but your own sickness. I insult you because you deserve it. I went back and looked through some of your posts. Damn, you are one venomous little bugger. Your HA history paints a rather pathetic picture of a deeply disturbed little REICHwinger I wonder what the outcome will be? Will you simply stroke out from all that vitriol you carry around or will you go berserk and start shooting?
