Good to see you moving on with your life. It's perfectly reasonable to have access to business papers from one's partner. On this side of the Atlantic, you'd have the law on your side in that endeavour:

I've recently submitted a request for information held by an outfit funded by local government. They did not respond in the legally mandated time limit (40 days), so I contacted them again, and told them I would pass the matter over to the Information Commissioner's Office in London. Hey presto! Within 48 hrs a package arrived at my solicitor's office. In our country, these laws do appear to work.
