I asked this over on another forum. I get caught up on certain words and phrases. Example after Happy Gilmore I was stuck on JACK ASS, and when I saw Office Space I went around using NO TALENT ASS CLOWN..

So what do you find yourself using to curse out people these days?

Personally I like

Jesusfuckingcuntingbastardingwept,

delivered in a steady monotone. It covers a good range of offense in one go.

I just did a rewatch of the first season of Family Guy and was amazed at the depth of intelligent cursing that the writers came up with for Stewey.

My favorite, and one that I doubt more than a tiny percentage of the audience even had a clue to the meaning of, was the one where he called Peter a "Brobdignagian blunderbuss!" :)

Personally, I seem to be getting a lot of milage out of 'muthafucka' lately. It's been giving me a lot of space at workies since it is typically delivered as accompaniment to thrown tools, etc.

'Cunt', for me, is a last resort, mostly reserved for past relationships that so deserve the brand. I used to always consider it a fun or complimentary word, but times change. After all, how much more fun can a word be when it's attached to something like Tee Corrine's "Cunt Coloring Book"?

Cunt seems to be much more offensive on your side of the pond than it is here. Calling somebody a daft cunt wouldn't be very offensive here, and between friends it would be commonplace. I once had a girlfriend who liked me to call her "my little cunt" in private, or quietly whisper it in her ear in public, especially while copping a good feel. It turned her right on. On the other hand, "motherfucker"" is still unusual enough over here for it to cause offence.

Anyway, it's not what you say it's how you say it.

Cunt seems to be much more offensive on your side of the pond than it is here.

The dykes 'embraced' it, as the gay community latched onto 'queer' and 'faggot' and the black community took hold of 'nigger/niggah', and took a lot of the steam out of it in those circles. It still gets some reaction based on, as you said, the delivery/how you say it.

I've used cunt as a term of endearment or to describe a thing of beauty, and those I was speaking to took it as it was meant. I've also used it, though rarely, as a descriptive slap and have been viturally and literally slapped back because the tone was clear that I was not saying it in jest.

ETYMOLOGY: Middle English, attested in pseudo-Latin fuccant, (they) fuck, deciphered from gxddbov.
WORD HISTORY: The obscenity fuck is a very old word and has been considered shocking from the first, though it is seen in print much more often now than in the past. Its first known occurrence, in code because of its unacceptability, is in a poem composed in a mixture of Latin and English sometime before 1500. The poem, which satirizes the Carmelite friars of Cambridge, England, takes its title, “Flen flyys,” from the first words of its opening line, “Flen, flyys, and freris,” that is, “fleas, flies, and friars.” The line that contains fuck reads “Non sunt in coeli, quia gxddbov xxkxzt pg ifmk.” The Latin words “Non sunt in coeli, quia,” mean “they [the friars] are not in heaven, since.” The code “gxddbov xxkxzt pg ifmk” is easily broken by simply substituting the preceding letter in the alphabet, keeping in mind differences in the alphabet and in spelling between then and now: i was then used for both i and j; v was used for both u and v; and vv was used for w. This yields “fvccant [a fake Latin form] vvivys of heli.” The whole thus reads in translation: “They are not in heaven because they fuck wives of Ely [a town near Cambridge].” (http://www.bartleby.com/61/95/F0349500.html)

I like frel; another variant is "frag."

And I'm a big fan of "ratzenfratzen" - it just rolls off the tongue so well.

I'm not Jewish, and it might not technically be a curse word, it's from seinfeld... "sweet fancy moses"

Chefmike, that brings up one of many interesting misreadings of the Old Testament, both by Christians and others (including some Jews): the third commandment, usually given as "Thou shalt not take the Lord God's name in vain" and interpreted as a command against blasphemy and cursing, is actually in Hebrew [i]lo tissa[/], "You shall not carry the Lord's name in vain" and it refers instead to the act of using the Lord's name to justify selfish and/or evil actions (like who hasn't seen that happen?). This is a far more serious action, if you stop and think about it.

I always liked "Christ inna sidecar!" It always conveyed a happy, non-blasphemous image. :)

For best delivery: I believe The DVD of Gelngary Glenross (But as likely The Odd Couple) has an Actor's Workshop interview with the late Jack Lemmon and one of the questions asked is "What is the dirtiest thing you ever said?"

His reply, in that squinty Lemmon-esque delivery, is the priceless "Cocksuckingmoutherfucker!". It's a must-see for any fan of this man's work.

Well I like to go for the old classics like shite and gobshite. Some new ones are growing on me lately though like (from england) knobhead and (from closer to home) arsemonger.

Definitions:

Shite - Basically the same as sht, just sounds better.

Gobshite - hard to define precisely, generally a word for a dopey headed fool.

Knobhead - says it all

Arsemonger - someone who mongers arse. (ie. they talk a lot of nonsense).
