I noticed that Amanda does not always get the credit she deserves. Here I am giveing it to her. Amanda is paveing the way for transexuals to be accepted in society wether some of u catty bitchs like it or not. Amanda is on talsjows in interviews discussing transexual's to the mainstream. She has graced the covers of major magazines across the nation. She came from doing club gigs with Michael Alig and in the words of Rupaul "And Look at the bitch now......"

I have heard only good things about her personality. But I think that Amanda is no longer a person, she is a "fetish object" or a "brand". I don't mean that negatively in any way. What I'm getting at is that she is basically an artist and her canvas is her body. That is difficult to pull off and still be a person in real life, which apparently she is. But publicly, she is basically not her self, but her creation.

The best comparison, I think, is to Andy Warhol. Unlike Andy, Amanda apparently remains a very sweet person, but her public persona is not a real person. I think that the Jessica Rabit picture is very telling, because, she really can pull off being a cartoon character, which says a lot about what she is artistically trying to create.

That's not Chirs Paciello, but that is Michael "Party Monster, I Killed My Drug Dealer Boyfriend and Chopped Him Into Little Pieces" Alig on her left... That poor bastard, I had some good times with him and those club kids...

Amanda has always looks soo good. I have seen her on the streets of NYC during the day a few times and she looks so hot. I have some thoughts involving her lips... :twisted:

Amanda was always an idol of mine. I first saw her on TV when Joan Rivers had her show and she was on modeling as a "club kid". Then I met her at a party at hotel 17 years ago when I first came to NYC. I remember those Raleigh ads- they were fab. The we became friends by fate.

She is so glamorous and does it all- mind you she styles herself which is unbelieveable.

I've seen her once in a while in my nabe... I try not to stare, but that is difficult. It's rare to see someone that amazing-looking.

Yes, it's artificial. And bizarre. But it's also interesting, glamorous, and cutting edge.

I would compare it to how the Beatles and the Rolling Stones looked to the mainstream culture (martini-drinking fans of Sinatra and Dean Martin) back in the 1960s. These bands don't look very shocking now, do they?

But back then? Men with hair over their collars looked like total garbage! Rejects! Weirdos! Mick Jagger (with those huge lips and girly hair) looked like a genetic freak! And forget The Who (and that ugly Pete Townsend), The Kinks, etc. And things just got weirder-looking throughout the 1960s.

Then you had the "ugly-looking" punk bands of the 1970s--Joey Ramone, Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious (who picked up a transexual during the 1978 US tour)... Of course you also had "Amanda Lear," a transexual disco diva, during the 1970s... (I wonder if there's any relation?)

Amanda Lepore is a cultural icon of that stature.

u know what the best thing about amanda is- that is she is truly happy with herlsef and 100 percent condifent with her appearance. i have been out with her and public in the daytime- and trust people stare. people stare because she is so eye catching- it's not negative- in fact guys hit on her ALL the time.

she is the only person i know who trylly, 100 percent- is so secure with herlsef that she will manipulate her apperance to be wild, crazy, freakish, sex symbol, art,- what have you and really pull it off.

and oh i'm sorry i just read the jocelyen question. yes, i met jocylen through manda years ago when jocylen hosted amandas birthday party at spa. then we went to dinner a few nights later- which was an honor becaise i always wanted to meet jocelyn, i saw her a few times after that at plaid- but have not seen in her in about one year. jocelyn is very sweet and kind, and looks way better in person than in photos.

I can tottally agree with you......I have never met Amanda , but she just radiates confidence and pride when you see her. As for Joceylen looking better in person....I said this on another forum I believe that sometimes when someone has had numerous amounts of surgery photographs dont always gapture the beauty that has been created as if you were to see the person in the flesh. As it it goes for any picture. Alot of pix you do see of Jecelyn or even Amanda sometimes are papperazzi or fan photo's where people have caught them off guard etc.
