Mike Lee, repub Senatorial candidate (and likely winner of the general election) is as nutty as they come. He wants to raise the SS retirement age to 75, before eventually repealing SS - and Medicare - altogether. He supports low caps for oil company liability:
'Lee said it would be a "mistake" to raise the liability cap for companies like BP and Anadarko, even if maintaining the status quo leaves "taxpayers on the hook for part of the damage." '
He wants to toss out the progressive income tax system and begin new underground testing of nuclear weapons. He wants to allow an Italian energy company (a client of his) to import and bury nuke waste in the Utah desert.
Lee would also like to repeal the 17th amendment and let US Senators be appointed by state legislatures instead of being voted in by the people.

How could any average person vote for this freak?
