The case got a lot of visibility because the people with the pictures and the videos were cops who blackmailed him. The cops were arrested, but at the end the governor decided to resign...

Piero Marrazzo, 51, who is married with three daughters, was allegedly filmed with the sex worker in a flat in Rome in July. The mobile phone footage was taken by another transsexual prostitute, according to reports.

That pretty much done him in.
